Have you ever gone fishing ? Did you like it ? What did you catch ?

Yes, yellow fin, caught off the Mississippi delta. Not too far from where the infamous BP oil spill happened.
My husband caught some in that wave last week
Nice looking fish, what kind of mackerel are they? Good to eat? I think they are probably related to tuna, look a lot like them. In the Gulf of Mexico we have two mackerel commonly caught Spanish and King. The Spanish are smaller and just so so eating. The Kings get a lot bigger and, I think anyway, are much better eating.

Wayyyyyyy to fishy.
Yep!👍😅
as i typed that, i couldn't help giggling at how silly that sounded. but seriously, compare sardines and say flounder/fluke on fishines. i can only think of one fish that's fishier than sardines and that would be anchovies. and something like flounder or tilapia are all the way on the other end of the scale... fishinessless.

I’.ve been fishing numerous times in my younger days. I tried to be a fisherman but never got the knack? I couldn’t tell good tackle from bad, never really enjoyed fishing that much. One summer
after fishing with my nephew who told me first he’d throw all my tackle away, most of which I had just bought at a sporting goods store. Then he told me I couldn’t catch fish because I didn’t
know how. I decided he was right? Gave my tackle box and all its contents away. Never went again. I’m not a fisherman.

Yellow fin tuna? That’s a huge fish. Are there other types of tuna you catch? How hard are they to catch? Can you pull them in by yourself with a regular fishing rod?

I didn’t know there were different types of mackerel but my guess is that they are the King type cause they were really tasty but I’m not positive. They may be called Atlantic mackerel. There is a limit of 20 a day that can be caught. He did say they were very fun to catch but apparently not as fun as these sea trout he caught yesterday. They were cooked and served within hours and I admit that they were fairly tasty. He caught 7 but threw 2 back since 5 is the limit. My guy says that they fight a lot more than any other trout he’s ever caught. Out of the 32 years I’ve known him, this is the most excited I’ve ever seen him regarding fishing.

No I completely understood what you were saying and agree wholeheartedly. I am not a fan of anchovies either for the same reason.
I suppose I’m a picky fish eater. Lol

Today I saw a trout farm for the first time.
I was told these farms have cement bottoms but I don’t think that’s true. There were about 30 of these. Apparently they farm these sterilized fish to sell to supermarkets only.
There were quite a few people fishing around them

My dad took me crappie fishing a lot as a child and teen. He finally gave up on me when I positioned the cooler between two bench seats of his jon boat and took a nap.

As an adult, I've mostly gone with my sister and rowed while she fished ...she calls me her trolling motor. She loves it and is the most aggressive fisherperson I've ever seen. I have no idea why she finds it relaxing since she approaches it as full scale war with the fish.
