Have you ever gone to a psychic/fortune teller?

Yes. Many times. Psychics, mediums, tarot readers, astrologers. Not recently. My last experience was with George Anderson, who once was a famous one. Was not impressed but have been by others. Uncanny, sometimes, makes one wonder whether..............šŸŽ¶Something's happenin' here; What it is ain't exactly clearšŸŽ¶

When I was 29 I made an appointment for an Astrological reading. I was so impressed by his interpretation of my chart and my present situation that I began my own exploration of Astrology. Over the years I have read hundreds of charts. For me it is a useful tool to describe attributes of life that have "spiritual" qualities to them. I do not do prognostication though. I have yet to find anything reliable enough to predict the future with much accuracy.
 
Divination is a practice that probably even preceded high level speech in humans. Much of it seems to be little more than an application of seat-of-the-pants psychological observation and intuition of others, sometimes with good props and a convincing manner.

Sometimes such tales and prophecy get collected into bound volumes that people desperately hug to their chests for generation after generation.

That's not to say it's worthless, or that it can't be helpful taken with some willing suspension of disbelief. Nor that it doesn't get bound up with some pretty decent rules for living and for treating each other well.
 
My darling grandfather as a young man in the Army in India went to a fortune teller, he said the man told him amongst other things he would die at the age of 79. Moving forward to 1965 he took ill and had to have emergency surgery, on the way to theatre he said to the orderly " this is the last time you'll see me." He was right, he died the very next day due to complications, he was 79.

There are several people in history who walked through their lives fooling people to the max. Some had books written about them. Some used those books as a guide to live their lives by. After a long while the books took on a special magical meaning which fascinated all who read them. The books were printed into many languages and the message of the books reached to all ends of the earth. Yup some people can be fooled quite easily.

to me it seems that the majority are easily fooled rather than some or the minority....Our studios were packed out, every seat taken during the recording of these shysters shows.
 
I spent New Year's Eve 1989 in Washington, DC with someone that I was very attached to. We split up on New Year's Day and he went home. I was so devastated that I went to a psychic. She told me I had a "dark aura", which was probably written all over my face. I pressed her as to how long I would live, and she told me I would live to 73 y/o. I'll get back to you all in 7 years to let you know if she was right.

My Hubby and I also went to psychics when we visited Taos. We were both completely unimpressed. They told us things anyone could have told us.
