Have you ever met a fellow SF member in person?

Seeing @dseag2 here reminded me of the live Zoom Coffee Klatch thing @Medusa did a few months ago. Got to meet both of them and several others live that way. It was a good experience, good folks. Not the same as a physical meeting, but closer than exchanging posts.
Who all did you meet?

I'd have police surrounding our home.
Thanks for the warning, wouldn't want to end up in jail or get shot by the police, LOL!
Seriously, I don't think I could meet any peeps I met on-line. One doesn't really get to know the other beforehand. In social media.... people can be anything they want to be and it is difficult to trust. That's just me. I don't hate, I just enjoy being part of this forum. Hope I make sense.
Sure, and nothing wrong with that. Its not designed as a place to meet people other than online. And I know in reality I probably never will meet anyone here in person. To me that's just a little sad.

That includes @Medusa, @palides2021, @Alligatorob and a former member who lives in Ecuador.
Also @OneEyedDiva and a man who was called something like OldMedic, but I can't find him. I think @RadishRose tried to call in but had troubles.

It was an interesting group, I liked all, much less commitment than most meetings, no need to exchange addresses or anything. Perhaps @Medusa or someone else will do it again.

I met (online) many people during the MSN chat days; I was a host. I know that a few of these people actually met and are very happy. I guess it is possible to find someone online and be happy.

I enjoyed seeing you all and speaking with you, but no one could see me. I guess I don't know how to enable my camera. I must have disabled it somehow.

I have not ever met a SF member in person, perhaps in the future I might if in my location.

On a couple other forums, I have visited over the years, I have emailed, Facetimed and exchanged
fun pics and visits off of the site. Still do in fact ;) and occasionally a visit on the phone.

Yes, I have spoken on the phone several times to an online friend over the years, many of whom I've met, and then there was this one guy who was a retired airline pilot from TX, never met him, but we had really nice conversations. Hmm, I just thought of him.......
I should try it again with a few others. It's nice to put a voice to a face/avatar.
:)
:)

No, but then I've been on this board less than 2 years. On a world wide skiing forum board I've met numbers of others and on a backpacking and hiking board several. As someone with as an old exhibiting photographer, an old public web site, someone with a non-commercial youtube account, linkedin, and Nextdoor accounts, I'm very much out there for the public to look at that does not bother me because no skeletons or dirty laundry in the closet. I'm not on any other post smartphone social media sites. Facebook requires use of real names so if one is posting there, one is much more exposed to the public. I prefer to remain anonymous on this specific board (thank you for letting me remain so) but meeting others would not bother me. In any case membership on this board seems to be very spread out and there isn't a common denominator of like personal activities people can share.
