I mentioned in an earlier thread I used conditioner instead of shampoo this morning, I remember my mother once picked up hand cream instead of toothpaste !

Have you ever inadvertently picked up and used the wrong thing ?

For a while when I used to bike ride a lot I kept two water bottles on my bike. One had water, the other had ammonia in it that I used to squirt at dogs that would chase me. One hot afternoon I picked up the wrong water battle and got a mouth full of ammonia. After that I went back to carrying two bottles of water. FYI, squirting a dog with water is almost as effective as squirting them with ammonia.

Not me, but my mother did several times.

Facial cream instead of shampoo
Athlete's foot spray instead of hairspray
She began to gargle with Lysol cleaner instead of Listerine, very painful and could have been fatal.

i used pain medication that came in a tube and bandaged my hand (i had cut my hand real bad) when my daughter came home she told me that was the wrong stuff--i was wondering why my hand wasnt hurting

Yes. The time I picked up and drank my nail polish remover instead of my water bottle!

In Navy boot camp we were required to use shaving creme that came in an tube rather than the familiar aerosol can. One sleep-deprived morning I accidentally grabbed that instead of my toothpaste.

Didn't care for it at all.

I started a new thread on this topic. I missed this one.

It's titled What are the odds of getting something right.

Did the same only it was Brylcream, a hair product for keeping hair in to place. Yecch! Both were in red tubes and I was red eyed from a night out.

This thread brought back a memory from more than 30 years back. My brother, his wife and their son came to visit us on the way to visit another relative further north. They decided to stay the night and head north the next day. That evening we were sending the kids in to take baths. My daughter finished and came out. I smelled her hair to be sure she had washed and rinsed good. My son came out from his bath and I smelled his hair and checked his neck. My nephew came out and wanted me to smell his hair and check his neck. It had a different odor than the other 2 kids but it was a familiar odor. And then I remembered! I had washed my dog that morning and the bar of dog soap was on the counter by the tub! My SIL and I checked and, yep, he had used the dog soap. I wanted him to take another bath but SIL said that he'd be fine. That was back in the day when it was just soap bars and not body wash.

Put ear drops in my eyes. Bottles looked identical. Boy did that burn!! Won't make that mistake again!
