So very sad, Sassy. Somewhere deep down inside she was probably fighting with some demon - maybe pain from a much earlier time. I believe there are a few people who are born with an inherently evil disposition, but very few. At any rate, it sounds like your parents showed some real strength in maintaining that relationship.

I don't know what made her the way she was and I admire my Mother for never stopping my Dad from seeing her. My Dad was the oldest of 7 children and I had dozens of cousins and for most of my life none of my cousins were allowed to be friends with me,my brother or sister.Fortunately in my teen years I did become friends with one of my cousins and after my Grandmother passed I became friends with another cousin.Life can sometimes be very strange.

Well maybe not strange but maybe different.. My brother-in-law once gave me a post hole digger for Christmas. At the time I wasn't doing any fence repair, building, or had any planned.

But they're handy to have when you need one so I thanked him and kept it in the garage..

Got a letter from my health insurance company with Important Policy Information on the envelope...

Apparently they're not aware I'm 64 years old.
