I wish I could remember more about it, but no, the conversation was very short and I think both of us had a bit too much to drink (or whatever she was using). I just remember complimenting her singing and telling her my favorite song of hers was "Apartment Number 9." She was really small, but had a great big distinctive voice unlike any other.

Perhaps small in stature. but huge in delivery

So then there was the time when after her solo performance at the Golden Garter in Wythy, when I met up (purely by chance of course) local girl' Lyn Paul .



She had left the Club and was on her way home.
The 25-year old blonde was certainly an eye-opening attraction to a 15 year old lad and when 'going my way' home along the nearby Brownley Road we had a youthful if not a tad brash conversation.
Whilst touching on her previous time with the New Seekers; she had recently left the group to persue a solo career,



- it was more of a conversation about the locale which she was born, and I was raised.
Though she could have ignored avoided the interaction of a rather cheeky young lad, she chose to engage with an equality of banter which made it a lasting memory =

I could fll the whole thread with stories but I'm not going to, because my husband ..now X since last month.. still works with these people...

There are people who I could tell absolutely true non complimentary stories about .. but I don't want get sued for libel... ..if you were here in my livingroom..or down the pub I would tell you...

During the period of 1974 (it's initial launch date of 1st April being rather uniquely timed) until around 1990 - PICCADILLY RADIO - until it's had it's fair share of reknowned D.J.s - with a number of pop stars of the day visiting the studios.



In my days of latter school and early work life within the City centre it was a place where one could just pop -in for an autograph or purchases of the station marchandise.
It was commonplace to see many stars in the quite open accessed studio.



- Both "Popping in" and "Popping out", and "loitering with intent" - and there were a few times whch they did.

The main event arena in Manchester was the Apollo - which was/is around a mile away, and the student-y Manchester Academy (around the same distance) from the studio site - (this being pre- haciena days) so it was at the quite handy to grab a guest, or two for to interview and engage in some unique programmes.

Mike Sweeney
- lead singer of local band The Salford Jets (and later DJ on the station)
...
- (and currently hosting a regular show on BBC Radio Manchester was a frequent visitor.

'Sweeney' - couldn't half talk - Football, Music, bands and thw World today, and probably why he made such a populay radio show presenter.

Another Salford connection came from the band 'The Smiths' - Lead singer Morrissey paid a few vists there - as the station promoted their songs on a regular basis.
His visits were few though he did attend a couple of times for interview.

Whilst his persona seems to the general public somewhat aloof and at times arrogant, I found him to just a straight talking simple man who was unafraid to voice his opions.

• That's also caused honesty.

Another local band (well lead singer) to nip into the studio for interview was Pete Shelley of the Bolton band the Buzzcocks yt.



Shelly was an entusiastic person of creative writing with a keeness of eye and awareness of attunity with that of the youth of the day.
He was another of misunderstood character.
