Have You Noticed A Decline In Quality Of Products You Regularly Buy?

Not the quality, the weight or size of the product is reduced.
Yeah, I've noticed that quite a bit. Companies hate to raise prices, so to deceive the consumer, they simply reduce the quantity a little so that one thinks they're getting the same deal.

For example if something used to be 12 ounces, they reduce it to 10 ounces so that they save, but it looks about the same. And toilet paper for example, they keep the same outside diameter roll, but they increase the size of the core, so that it looks like it's the same old product for the same price, but in fact there's less product.

Oh geez. I'm glad I came across this post. My husband went out and purchased quarter leg thighs of chicken. I thought wow! That should last for 2-3 meals. I didn't see what he purchased at the time, but I thought quarter leg thighs are so big, we can put them in a 9x13 pan for roasting. He defrosted them and when it came time to roast them, I saw they were just little bird legs and thighs. Not chicken as they were listed to be. Made me absolutely sick to my stomach but roasted them anyway for my husband. If a company wants to sell chicken, sell chicken. Not tiny little birds. Makes me sad.

Milk and half and half are not lasting to their expiration date anymore. Just this morning I had to throw out h&h that was dated into July 14. Yuck.
I've had problems with this too, especially at one particular store, which leads me to believe it may be due to transportation providers skimping on refrigeration.

Nothing new. As long as Wall Street bean counters interested in maximizing profits at the expense of society are in control, such will occur. Their usual consumer product strategy is to use quality parts and components for product introduction and then after gaining market share, begin reducing quality parts with cheaper parts.

With food that is often a gradual slight reduction in the amount of food within the same size packaging. Thus one would need to compare the difference in total food weight. And then they may gradually use cheaper, lower quality food ingredients.

From Trader Joe's, I often bought and brought to my workplace lunches, Broccoli Slaw & Kale Salad with Chicken Meat. That was before it became quite popular. Positive reviews were like the below.

Trader Joe’s Broccoli Slaw and Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat

But in recent years the quality of the ingredients noticeably decreased while price rose from about $4 to $5. They first changed the broccoli from good florets to stems and all. The early sweet vinaigrette dressing was one of the most delicious ever but that was changed.

Most of the bananas in my area are Cavendish from India. I prefer Manzano or Apple bananas from Mexico or Central and South America.

The only issue with quality/value are with items from the $tore. The recent round of inflation has made it difficult to find much of value.
I didn’t realize there were so many different types of bananas.

Patty. A long time ago, when I was working as a P.I. I had to go into the main fresh fruit warehouse at Loblaws. While I was there, I saw a huge room, that was at least 50 feet square, which was air tight. This was where they ripened the incoming green bananas, in a controlled humidity and air tight environment. I was told that using this system, allowed the bananas to be cut and shipped as green fruit, then ripened under artificial conditions. The timing to get the fruit into the stores was a matter of precise management practices. JIM.

Rancho or is it Ranch Market? YUK.

The producers are putting less product in the packages. It has to cost them more for the plastic and paper fillers to hold the few cookies in place. Good thing I like those cookies or I’d boycott them.

Be aware of the scam that there may be a lot of ice filler in the frozen food package.

I usually shower with a body wash, but yesterday I was in a hurry and decided to use a bar of soap. I was surprised at how small the bars of soap have become. Even my Hershey chocolate bar has become much smaller and costs around $2.00.

Good luck finding a decent tasting tomato in a grocery store. Wayside stands are sometimes a better choice.
I agree. If you can find a wayside stand or a farmer's market, those should be naturally grown. I haven't researched it, but I'm pretty sure tomatoes are radiated today in order to retard spoilage.

I fondly recall those great beefsteak tomatoes we used to get right from the garden in Ohio. Cut up one or two of those babies, and that would almost make a whole dinner. Not to mention that they were delicious!
