I haven't watched the Oscars in years. Last time I did, there were only 5 nominees for Best picture. I don't even go to the movies any more. No real interest.
Sorry, my careless misunderstanding of a previous post. Oppenheimer certainly was not funny. But funny or not I didn't care for it.Well it isn't supposed to be funny, is it? I didn't see any comedy parts in the trailer.
I haven't set foot in a movie theater since I can't remember when. These days the movie crop seems pretty weak. I would prefer to stream older flicks in the comfort of my home.I haven't watched the Oscars in years. Last time I did, there were only 5 nominees for Best picture. I initially wasn't interested in watching The Oscars either but the program is streaming on Hulu. I found this year's actor nominees to be interesting as well as the format and of course I wanted to see what everyone was wearing. Normally I'd just watch the recap, but somehow I kept watching. Haven't even gotten half way through and I'll probably FF through most of it. Before this, I hadn't watched any of the award shows in over a decade.I haven't watched the Oscars in years. My hubby feels exactly the same about the fact that the Barbie trailer shows nothing that interests him. He refuses to watch it. It was playing for free aboard a ship we sailed on in February. It was during a sea day so I went to see it again because there was nothing else to do and I wanted to see if I watched it until the end this time if I would appreciate it more. I didn't.I can not understand all the hype about Barbie. Nothing in the trailers I've seen made me want to waste time watching it, not even when it comes to streaming. And that Ken song...why was that up for an Oscar?! I agree about Jeffrey Wright, though even he, nor Anthony Hopkins or that cute James Marsden could make me watch more than a couple of episodes of Westworld. Just didn't grab me. A good friend was really into it and she recommended it to me. I first saw Jeffrey Wright in Lackawanna Blues a couple of decades ago, during which I recognized him as an exceptional talent. Great cast in that movie. Lackawanna Blues (film) - Wikipedia
@RadishRose I had mentioned this a couple of other threads. I have ADD and rarekt watch anything that's 44 minutes long (the ad free length of an hour show), in one sitting. I usually stop after 23 - 26 minutes. I may stop watching TV or even go on to watch something else and come back to that show later. I usually watch movies for a little bit longer but also break them up into manageable segments, so that I wind up watching them like a weekly series.Crazy, I know, but it works for me.
Miraculously I do sit through movies in the theater. Perhaps that's because I only go to the theater(s) to see movies I'm dying to see and usually it's with loved ones, so it's the whole experience that makes it enjoyable. Last movie I saw in the theater was The Little Mermaid. My honorary daughter knows I love mermaids, so she treated me.My hubby feels exactly the same about the fact that the Barbie trailer shows nothing that interests him. He refuses to watch it. Like you, I have a bit of ADD but if I go to a theater I can sit through a movie because it's a "day out". I won't watch one at home because I prefer my entertainment in small blocks. You should really see American Fiction. It doesn't hurt that Sterling K Brown is in it either!
I thought it was fantastic too. I liked Oppenheimer but I think AF was even better.American Fiction and it was fantastic! Jeffrey Wright is great in everything I've seen him in. (Westworld also comes to mind.)
I remember that. It's a few years old. It's disgusting. Don't remember anything else.My husband and I started to watch a film that was nominated called “Mother” and it was probably the sickest most revolting movie I’ve ever seen. Needless to say, we didn’t watch it.
I highly recommend NOT watching it
What surprises me most is how popular it became. It means lots of people actually liked it.I remember that. It's a few years old. It's disgusting. Don't remember anything else.
I share your lack of interest in today’s movies. The days of celebrated movie stars and the desire to see their latest flics are behind us. The stuff they are cranking out these days is barely worth a yawn.I haven't watched the Oscars in years. Last time I did, there were only 5 nominees for Best picture.
