Have Your Taste Buds Changed With Age?

Broccoli used to be delicious, now I can only eat it with lemon.

Other foods are bland. Nothing really has the zing it used to have.

Even my homemade chocolate cake was just so-so.

Today we went to a restaurant that has rave reviews. We won’t be returning.

I have noticed that I dislike some of the food that I've always prepared for us. It's almost like it doesn't taste the same, very bland. Do we lose our ability to taste when we age? 🤨😫 Even a chocolate cake hubby bought was tasteless. It's in the refrigerator minus two slices. We'll let our guinea pig eat it. lol

Guinea pig = stepson who loves chocolate cake.

I haven't lost any taste buds, but I have to admit I worry about other people, because often we'll go to a restaurant which has rave reviews, and I think 'really?.. people are enjoying this rubbish food ''?

I seemed to have lost my taste for fried foods and sugar, except in moderation. I prefer fresh vegetables and freshly baked bread. If I go out and try to eat some fried fish and French fries, I leave usually saying that I'm never going to eat that garbage again because of the way it makes me feel. Granted, I might feel differently if I was drinking, although I am drinking now and had a piece of birthday cake, but just a small sliver, and that was plenty. All that sugar and fried foods just doesn't do it for me any more.

I don't think mine have very much, it's just that the food producers are messing about with additives, some with chemicals that absorb water, the result being.....we are actually buying water. Another reason is that farmers are using fertilizers to make crops grow faster and bigger, which means that the crops are not absorbing natural nutrients from the soil. :)

Yes, mine have changed. Foods that I used to love seem to be tasteless now.

I'm thinking that it isn't just our taste buds that have changed .... it's the food itself that is different. Bad quality stuff out there!

The foods you buy prepared are drowning in seasonings and spices.. to hide their blandness and poor quality.
