Hello folks, new here..

I'll be retiring in 5-7 years and I'm worried, unsure and anxious about many things. I figured I better start reading and asking questions because I greatly value advice from people with more experience. I'm still living in the same four bedroom house my wife and I raised our kids in, wondering why I'm still here alone, filled with stuff I don't need and have lost interest in..

Anyway, thanks for having me.

Feel free to peruse the whole forum... and ask questions ..

Welcome, Mike!
I have no wisdom for you, as you'll have to figure things out for yourself. One thing I will say is when the time is right to change things up, you'll just know.
Until then, and even after, stick with us here and have a bit of fun. It will definitely make you think about sillier things and may even make you grin!

Mike bonjour, was in Oskaloosa IA in 1985, at Musco....

Wonderful ambience in this farming area...

Been retired 12 yrs, but still very active....

Recommend to travel, join groups, take exercise, offer to advise younger gen in your profession, assist non profits...

Your already retired circle of friends and relatives, and local Senior Cente and Social Security offices are the first resources for decisions such as when to take retirement , medicare, etc.

An experienced CPA or tax preparer ca advise on the tax implications for your situation.

Bon Chance,

Jon

Welcome Mike. We retired eight years ago. From our experience, five to seven years out is not too early to start on some serious planning. We knew we wanted to relocate upon retirement and the work we did in advance was a huge benefit to us when the time came.

Hay, eh? Welcome! I'm in balmy Southern Ontario, Canada. I've bin retired for quite some time now. But I'm in eggzackly the same situation as you, in regard to your accumulated stuff! My wife never had the heart to throw anything out. I managed to get a lotta the stuff into a storage unit, but ran out of steam due to health problems, before I could finish the job. Now, I have had to have my daughter move in with me. And unfortunately, she brung a lotta stuff with her!:rolleyes:
