Height, does it matter to you?

How tall are you? Do you wish you were taller or shorter. Is/was there a significant difference in height between you and your significant other?

Is height important to you, and are your children/grandchildren much taller than you were at their age?

No real reason for this question other than interest on my part .. :D

I'm 5' 11". My only kids (twin boys) are about 5' 9". My SO is 5' 3" in her stocking feet.

I think that many men who are rather short would wish they were taller, IMO, Although I know there are/were many short folks of renown throughout history.

I was 5'11 1/2" but I've been getting much taller lately. I used to be able to bend over and pick something off the floor but now I'm so tall I can't begin to reach the floor.

If you are short everything is too high. If you are tall everything is too low. It's a government conspiracy.

One thing that never occurred to me until recently while talking to a friend who is 6ft 7..that the most basic items in the home can be a major literal pain. For example he gets severe pain in his back while standing at the kitchen sink doing washing up or anything that takes more than a few minutes , simply because generally sinks are always set at standard height in most kitchens. he can't have it raised because his wife is average height and therefore it would make it awkward for her.

I've shrunk since my first passport in 1973. According to that, I was 5'6"; according to the last time I was measured at the doctor's office, I'm 5'4" so I've lost two inches in 42 years. My daughter is 5'11", granddaughter is 5'9" (she's almost 15), grandson is 5'10" but they're not done growing yet! Son in law is 6'2".

Until I was in 8th grade, I was "too tall" and always in the back row in class pictures, then it seemed that everybody else kind of just grew overnight.

I remember getting after my daughter a lot while she was growing up to stand up straight. She hated being tall then but doesn't mind now because she lives in a household where pictures hung at "eye level" are normal to the rest of her family:)

At one point I was 5'8". Back surgery and old age has put me closer to earth at about 5'6 1/2", but I am still cute! I kinda wish I was younger. The height thing doesn't matter.

I'm short enough (155 cm) to be diagnosed with duck's disease and my grandfather said I had grounds for suing the council for building the footpath too close to my backside. Hubby towers over me (180 cm) which is just as well because I'm getting too shakey to climb on things to reach other things.

I used to be 5'6" but I think I've lost an inch somewhere along the way. My significant other(s) walk on four legs so they are much shorter than I am. Oh, wait, you meant a PERSON? Nevermiind.:p

If I had a SO, I would like him to be tall because then I would feel all dainty.

Being a bit on the shorter side (5 ft. 4 in.) can be inconvenient when trying to reach up into high cupboards. I keep a step-stool in my kitchen for reaching into these places.

I think the human race is growing taller.... as evidenced by old homes with very short doorways. When I went to antique clothing shows I saw that women's dresses from 100 years ago were incredibly tiny with narrow little shoulders that could fit an 8 year old child nowadays.

Not all movie stars are short - just the short ones...ha ha ha.

I've been 5'6" all my adult life; I haven't seem to have lost any height yet. I'm looking at a picture taken at my granddaughter's graduation last spring. I look like a midget between my daughter and granddaughter, who are taller than me, much taller in the case of my granddaughter. Of course, I'm wearing flats and they have very high heels on.

I'm 5'4". Sometimes I wish I was a little taller, but I have a step-stool and a step-ladder, so it's okay. My son is about 5'10". His dad, my first husband, was on the short side, but boyfriends through the years and my second husband towered over me.

I used to be 5'5" now I'm 5'4 1/2. Was always fine with my height. One son is 5'9" and the other is nearly 6'3". The daughter of the tall one is always one of these tallest in her class. She is predicted to reach 5'10".

I`m 5`7",hubby is 5`9". Kids are girls-5`8',5`4' and 5`5'. Son is 5`11". Grandkids are all over the place-oldest grandson is only 5`7",his little brother is 5`11" and his even littler brother is 5`7" at 14. His 11 yo brother doesn`t count, too young, but he`s pretty short. Two of our granddaughters are the same age-9-and the difference in their height is amazing. One is super extra tall and the other is the shortest in her class. She is the sister of the aforementioned brothers. So yeah, they are all over the place.

I was 5' 2".. now shrunk to just a fraction over 5'. Late husband was 5' 6", both sons around the 5' 10" mark. I am quite happy with being a shortie.
