Wow. A forum I can relate to :)
Through work I have a lot of young friends, but I am soon to retire (6 weeks) and looking for friends and contacts for my new phase of life! :D
I live alone, so am looking for advice on how to mentally prepare for retirement- I am very excited about this new stage, but I must admit, a bit anxious too. And just really hoping to connect with people online. I love quiet things like reading, knitting, and weaving, but also love more active things like white water rafting, kayaking, roller coasters, and even (once) skydiving. I do like to play! :) Can retirement be a time for play? Of course, I don't jump in and out of boats quite as easily as I used to and things like that……...:):confused:

Retirement is great .Do what you want ,when you want or leave it for tomorrow.

I can't tell you about retirement as I'm still working but I imagine you'll suddenly have all the free time you desire to do just as you please and answer to no one. Ahhhhhhhhh, how I look forward to that!
 
I have three years to go but am already planning! It sounds like you have many interests so I bet you'll love it! Congratulations.
 
Hi lilylilyrose. Soo pleased to see you after all you've taken the weight off my shoulders being the 'newbie! Seems like your 'world is (to be) your oyster' [my itals] enjoy.. sez one who has been retired 24 years.
 
For me retirement has been like I'm being spoiled. My time belongs to me. This is a relaxing period in my life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Welcome to the forum lilylilyrose!
 
Welcome to the forum Lily...well I've got 10 years to go before I retire, so I'll be interested to hear how you deal with being newly retired and how you'll fill your extra leisure time.. :)
