Thanks, Denise. I'm so new here, I am not sure where to tell my story. Oh well, here goes a little bit.
I had a 22 ft. little motor home that I drove to Alaska and back to So. Calif.; just I and my Schnauzer. I loved the life. Decided to retire from work and bought a 34 ft. motor home and a new Saturn to tow. I lived in that beast for 7 years. I went all over most of the USA, altho' I regret that I never got to the northern east coast.
I fell in love with the Washington Peninsula and spent three summers there on the beach as camp host.
I learned how to camp here and there "for free" sometimes. Campgrounds are very expensive for "Full Timers". Luckily my Mo Ho has a back-up camera which was sure a Godsend and helped me back into many camp sites. I got the rig stuck in the snow once in Yellowstone Nat'l Pk. and another time got it stuck in mud on a back road in So. Calif. I had very good road insurance that bailed me out. I learned how to change my generator oil and taught myself how to set up my satellite dish so that I'd have TV wherever I went. As a woman who worked at a desk and sat on chubby buns for 34 yrs. I had quite a bit of self-sufficiency to get the hang of. I just had to keep a "can do" attitude going.
It got to be a lot of work for a single lady so I decided to settle in Arizona. I didn't realize that I needed open-heart surgery which apparently caused me to feel worn out all the time. Anyhow, I saw lots of wonderful USA and met some really great people. I still get "hitch itch" often and wish it was feasible for me to take off "on the road again". If you can, DO IT. I heartily recommend the lifestyle!
