Hello From Pittsburgh...

Hello to all from this quickly-nearing 70-yr-old in a few months. I'm amazed by that number and the fact that I'm still around. I've never been a member of any forums, so really don't know what to say, other than "Hello!"...

I am hoping to hear from others who also can't believe that they've reached that number and/or who just want/need to talk to others in or around that age group!

Welcome from Toronto, Woodland. How about telling us a bit more about yourself .. are you retired/male or female/general location, etc.

We're a friendly bunch here, from all over the globe, which makes for interesting points of view :)

Welcome from a PA neighbor (we live in Hermitage). Glad you joined us. We have some lively discussions here and everyone is helpful and not critical. Jump right in to any thread and see what you think. You'll soon be joining the conversation, believe me :)

I'll be 76 in a couple weeks and, no, I can't believe how fast life has gone. I like my husband's way of looking at it. He says: "If I would have known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken way better care of myself." Ain't that the truth?? Haha. He's soon to be 82 and can still work rings around his sons :)

Woodland, on a forum you just talk about whatever you would talk about with your friends in real life, except you do it with your hands.. so don't worry, it's easy when you get the hang of it.. Anything that puzzles you about the forum , or how to do anything, please just shout and we'll help... we were all new once :)

Where in the world are you ?.. USA?..UK ?..are you Male / Female ?

Yes I think we're all in a state of shock getting to the ages we are.. who knew ?.. not us for sure.. I'm not 70 yet.. a few years to go, but I'm still surprised to be here at this age..

Thanks to everyone for responding!

To clear up some questions:

I am a woman; I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, USA; am interested in many topics; have one husband, one child, one graandchild and one dog.

Today I'm looking forward to watching the Rally and watching HMTQ's funeral. I hope to engage with everyone here!!!

Dear Seren,

Thank you for the welcome. I have a JapaneseChin. I hate to assume anything, but since you asked, I'm assuming that you are also an animal lover... do you have dogs, cat, snakes??? What breed???

How do you feel about HMTQ??? I've been a follower of the RF and find the photos of her family so sad... except for any photos in which there is a Markle lurking! As a Brit, what is your opinion re the Harkles???

Just remembered that my late wife went to Wilkensburg High School.
I'm sorry to hear of your wife's passing. Wilkinsburg HS used to be a good public HS, but reputations have changed over the years. I'm sure when your wife attended it was a top HS.

Thank you very much for the welcome!

Hi Woodland! I lived in Pgh for 25 years, in several different location and still have great affection for it. Follow WTAE now and then and that crazy “Pittsburgh Dad “ column.

Thank you for the welcome, neighbor! Honestly, I am frightened about turning 70... seventy... the big 7-0! All of the little sayings which are ignored are true... "time flies" it does! I've never thought so much about life, aging, etc as I have recently. That is one of the reasons I sought out a place to talk to others who may be going through the same. I'm so ill-prepared. Thanks so much for your kind welcome!

One thing about turning 70 in Pgh..it used to have wonderful medical care & hope it is still good in the pandemic days. Seems like UPMC is taking everything over.

Thank you for the welcome!!! Glad to know that you're familiar with the area.

That is the truth!!! UPMC is everywhere, but AGH is still there and gaining ground by erecting hospitals in suburban areas. The battle between the two will never end!

I am an animal lover and I have a beautiful Havanese furbaby. She is my shadow and I love her to bits.

I loved HMTQ and am devastated by her loss. I think HMKC and TPW are doing a fantastic job during a very difficult time for the whole family, sharing their mourning with the public to some degree. I honestly can't image how its been for them and the sheer number of walkabouts and visits and so on stuns me. I couldn't have done half of it and wouldn't have wanted to. I am not a fan of Markle/Hargan and really wish Harry had never met the woman - catching up on some news channels online last night, most of the Australian reporters referred to them as The Ginger and The Whinger!!! I had never heard that before and snorted so hard I spat my tea all over my keyboard

Er...dunno why that quote appeared twice  Soz!

You can read a whole lot about HMTQ in the thread @hollydolly opened, which is still being added to I believe...

Love Havanese!!! As for HMTQ, I'm in total agreement with you and in re to your thoughts about the Harkles. I do not understand the media reports of how much Americans love them. We can't stand those two losers... probably as much as you Brits can't stand them! I read Bowers book and she is just one rotten piece of humanity. But, pitiful Harry was warned by many and he still went through with it. I'm so glad she's being frozen out of the RF... hopefully KingCharles does the job, but if not, certainly William will!!!
