My name is Anne and I am 69 going to be 70 the 1st of August. I am a free spirit who worked her way to developing a successful Interior Design business in which I just retired from and handed the business over to a worker and partner who has been by my side for many years in my adventure. I am now just starting to try and figure out what to do on my next adventure of life. I suppose I will travel some and I suppose I will just enjoy just relaxing in my home. I am going to be turning 70 soon and never been married as I have been married to my job all my life. I have had men in my life throughout the years and that will continue as I do enjoy there company. I am a product of the Woodstock generation and was lucky enough to attend the original Woodstock festival which was an adventure in itself. I was 19 years old at the time and what was going on just spoke to me and I had to be there. It is other than starting my business the most influential thing I have ever done. I have no children other than my 12 year old Yorkie Poco. I look forward to meeting others here and being a part of this community.

Big warm welcome to you, Trippy Hippie!

LOVE your avatar! I used to babysit for a mom back in the 70's, that looked identical to you and was just as pretty!

I'm always so jealous of those like yourself who got to attend Woodstock 69! :)

Thank You so much. Woodstock 69' is an event in my life that I will never forget. It was something like I said that just spoke to me and me and a few friends were like we have to go. So we each packed a backpack and got in a car and went. We got so far and it was just like if you ever watched a documentary about that you could only get so close. My friend who was driving parked his car near a market and we got out and just started following the crowd. We eventually got there expecting to go through some sort of long line and pay, but all we did was walk through a field and put our blanket down and we were there. We didn't pay at all except for food. Water was free at least I didn't pay for it.

Love your story and experience!

I watched a documentary on it, and did it ever look like fun! It would have definitely been a gathering I would have loved to attend!

All I can say is there was so much love in that place. Sure there was the Pot and Acid that was going around and many were feeling good with that, but people really just cared for everyone else.

Boy, society as a whole could sure take some lessons from.

One thing I have never been clear on is how long the event lasted, as in days/weeks. Did you stay for a few days?

The event was held from August 15th through August 18th. Now how long did it take for all the people to disperse from that farm field I don't know for sure. I know we packed up very early on the morning of the 18th of August and just started walking in what we thought was the direction of my friends car. We were hoping the car was still there. We did eventually find the car once we found the road it was a straight walk to where we needed to go. The car was still there and we were one our way out and home in the wee hours of the morning the next day, I am surprised I could walk that much I did back then because I smoked cigarettes like they were going out of style, but I was almost 19 at the time and just a kid full of energy and wanting to see the world and to be a part of it all.

Until you mentioned it, I never even gave any thought to how many people were there, so just navigating your way through and past the vast numbers of people would have been a challenge unto itself, but orienting yourselves with where you parked the car would have thrown me for a loop! LOL! I'm terrible with directions and finding my way around, so I would have been lost.

We pretty much stayed in the area we started at the entire time we were there. There were a lot of people there so that is why we decided to leave really early that last day morning before all the other people started to move around. So we sort of got a jump start of most of the people. Once you found the main road though that got you to the farm it was pretty much a straight shot to where we left our car. I am horrible with directions and luckily the one guy we were with was not and we just listened to him and followed. There were also so many people and even local people once you got away from the farm that were just out on their lawns staring at these weird people walking by. If you had any questions you could have just asked them.

What an experience! Such a once in a lifetime deal, and in the 60's to-boot! I mean you just couldn't have asked for a more well-timed event.

I can hear the music now! :)

Hi Anne... I was too young for Woodstock..but the music lives on forever...✌

I was born at the right time to be at the right age to attend something like this. I was born in 1950. Even if I was born in 1955 I could have enjoyed this era of fantastic music, but to be able to attend this event my parents wouldn't have allowed me at that age. Hell they weren't too pleased that I was 18 going on 19 and I was going. :) It was a once in a lifetime thing. I remember this guy who later I come to know as Richie Havens starting to perform. He seemed to play forever. It was great. The 2nd band was a band I absolutely loved and that was Sweetwater. They were actually suppose to be first, but many years later I heard they were moved back and Havens was asked to move up because Sweetwater was in a traffic jam.

Anne. That's where my jealousy streak kicks in, I was born a good 10 years too late! LOL!

It's overwhelming to give thought to all of the talent that graced the stage! What a time...

So true, and believe me I do, and with members as yourself who experienced the event first-hand, hopefully you'll always be here for folks like myself who can't get enough of chatting about it! :)
Oh, I can talk about it. There are probably things I can't talk about as well. 😄 Also if you have never listened to Sweetwater before give them a try. They also had a made for TV movie about the band and mostly the lead singer Nancy Nevins several years ago.The band was in there prime when she was involved in a terrible auto accident and for a long period of time lost the ability to talk and sing.

ROFLMAO! I bet! :)

Yes, it's funny you mention Sweetwater, because I just finished visiting Wikipedia to find a list of entertainers that graced the stage, and when I came across Sweetwater, I thought, now there's one I need to type into YouTube to see if I can hear anything from them.

Listen to In A Rainbow. It is kind of Psychedelic sounding.
