Hi folks, I am a divorced ( married twice) old guy, 78, living a quiet, solitary life in rural SE Kentucky (Colonel Sanders of KFC fame’s home area). Been here 9 years after living in Florida for 5 years. Born in SE Massachusetts.

Lived in Maryland 14 years. working at NSA in the Army and as a civilian (please don’t hold it against me !!}. Then lived in several states (I liked southern California best) chasing computer jobs.

Retired 14 years ago and keep busy with hobbies- (a)Writing computer programs for collectors of guns, knives and cars and selling them at shows, (b)shooting and hunting a little, (c)maintaining a website of my own and a site for my high school class (1952).

My current hobby is building a website ‘Crossword Quick Answers’ to support my addiction to crossword puzzles (what do you do during TV commercials ? ). I’m hoping that many in this group are crossword hobbyists too. If so, please try out my website and let me know if it is useful to you. (www.gastonco.com/crossword) Thanks !!!

One of my life mottoes is ‘If you can’t lead a successful life, at least live an interesting one.’ !! Well, this is more than you wanted to know about me, but it serves to exercise my failing memory !!!

Have A Happy Day (HAHD):)

Hi Puzzler and welcome to the forum. (I do a couple [or 3] +word puzzles every day.

I get them from my daily newspaper. Good pastime + I learn a lot from them.)

Welcome to the forum Puzzler, it's great to have you here....

HI Pappy, Thanks for the note. Congratulations to your son. I envy him. This would have happened to me if I had not resigned in 1972 for personal reasons (2 failed marriages). I am glad to hear that although the benefits start to decrease in the 80s that he was still able to get a nice pension. HAHD GerryG

Hi Farmtex, Thanks for your note. I lived in TX twice for about 18 months each time. First in Dallas in 1980. I live in the northeast of the city and worked for Recognition Equipment(RE) located in Irving behind the Cowboy Stadium as a computer programmer. We were working with a huge Siemans printer trying to optically read bank checks and print them out. Well, 20 years later and all the banks began doing it !!!! Second time in TX I lived in Princeton (east of MacKinney) and worked in Plano. Miss the TX barb cue and cafeteria restaurants.GerryG

Hi Puzzler, haven't been welcoming people much, need to be doing that. So welcome, you will enjoy the peeps here I think:) I sure do, Denise

Hiya Gerry! You're my husband's age, though he'll be 79 in May. Funny, he's into crosswords also big time. He actually buys papers often based on how much he likes their crosswords! That and SUDKU. But it's a good mind exercise really. That will help your memory too, so keep at it!

Hope you enjoy this site, I just joined and it's great. Sounds like you have an active life and do things that keep you happily occupied and have a good outlook.

All the best!

Welcome, Puzzler. A good group of people here and an old sorehead or two. You can't be all bad, being from Kentucky. My family hailed from Kentucky back when Winchester County existed. I've been to Hopkinsville, way back when. Welcome.
