Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

Dear Diary (lol) Today I took my dog to the Vet and did not have a good experience. I encountered a Vet Tech who I feel talked down to me and thought she had more experience with my dog than I have. It was the first time she'd seen my dog.

The last time I was at the Vet the Vet Tech was different and very nice and understanding of our predicament. Everything went fine that time.

I almost got in an argument with this new tech today. I did end up raising my voice to her and she backed off. I don't know if I want to go back there. There is another place I have gone and it's a little more expensive but they act more congenital and professional.

I have enough to deal with besides I'll mannered people!
We had the same type of experience with a new vet (way back when) .. if you can request a different tech, do that. If not, I would suggest going elsewhere. I would let the new place know why you left the other vet clinic.

It really annoys me when the vet doesn't listen to who spends 24/7 with our pets, and know them best.
They need to change their attitude.

How sad that you had such an unprofessional visit! If it were me, I would feel that I was not the one who needed to move on. Rather, would be sure that the Vet knew about her behavior....it's his clinic and I'm sure that he would want happy customers. Also, the next time that I was there, and that Tech came in, I would (politely) refuse to have her treat my pet, and ask for someone else.

This way, she will gain important life lessons about how to treat people! If she can't/won't learn, the Vet can deal with her!

Another very cold day today. There was such a chill inside here I turned the heat up more. It's cozy in here now. Doing more laundry the story of my life 🤣. Doctor still has not called. He must be very busy.

Suzy got groomed yesterday and tomorrow she goes for her ears to be cleaned. I would do it but she refuses to let me finish once I start. She hates that.

Still got my Christmas 🎄 tree up. I love watching the light show 🤩!
I just took my tree down....and I miss it already! 🎄

Has this week's Arctic deep freeze already reached some of you, in your locations?
It's due to arrive here by tomorrow morning (Friday)
and I sure hope the heat will stay on, and do enough of a job. And the warm water, and the ability to warm foods and to warm my heat pads, that I use for pain relief (Or for distraction from pain or cold) ...
I hope all of you back east are warm enough and all tucked in today. We survived it and are still warming up today. I even had the door open so the cats could enjoy the sun through the glass storm door this morning.

I see the position of pet sitter has already been filled. Too bad, I would have applied too. Ruthanne, that doggie is so cute even the cats might have enjoyed her company. :giggle:

Disgustedman, I hope you're feeling a little better today. There are some neighbors that are like family and we really hate it when they go.

Thank you for your advice.

I'm sorry you had that crummy, negative experience, @Ruthanne
especially when you were doing a good, positive thing, by taking your dog there.

When I have these types of experiences, (surprisingly commonly, it seems :()
I find it very discouraging, and I wonder why some people and places, do not realize it is not necessary and NOT okay, to add stresses to other people, instead of being supportive and respectful.

Gosh, that Vet Tech surely does not know you or your dog, better than you yourself do!
How frustrating and disappointing. I too would not want to return there.
Unless there is something else important, or someone else there, that is excellent.
Thanks Kaila. Today is a new day. Suzy is on a medicine the Vet herself prescribed. The Vet is okay and we have a treatment plan. Seems we are always getting different vet techs so maybe next time we'll get one of them that is better. Hopefully.

I didn't even realize that it was early morning of yesterday,
(not today) that you'd had that encounter,;)
and that today is therefore, not yesterday any more! :giggle:

I am glad you told me it's a
new day! I like that reminder and that phrase, too! And I am glad you have the care you need for Suzy.

I can see on my window thermometer that it is minus 10 degrees F, on the outside of the window! And it was only 9p.m. when I managed to look.

So, it will get colder than that, overnight. I had to scrape some frost off of the inside of the window, to try to read the numbers.

I am feeling extremely thankful to have heat cranking out, and keeping me warm and okay, indoors. I also managed to pull an additional blanket, over the bed.

I wish and I hope, that all others could be warm and safe, tonight.

Actually our appointment was at 3 pm. She is on something for her bad ear infections.

I was glad to see some wild birds very active, at the feeders, this morning!
It's amazing that those little things can survive the winters out there! It always lifts my spirits, to see any of them.
There is a reason they can stand the cold. I'm not sure what it is but I do know they have faster heart beating rates. Not sure if that even hass anything to do with it.

Wow it sounds terribly cold there. Stay warm Kaila! It hasn't gotten that cold here.

Wild birds like fatty food like suet when it's real cold.

They cocoon in their own feather down to stay warm too, along with cuddling with other birds.
And finding places away from the force of the wind helps them survive.

Thanks for that, and for the reminder about the fatty foods. I forgot I usually try to get something like that for them. I will see if there's any leftovers like that, around here, that they might like.

If I'd remembered, I could have asked for some peanut butter, on the last groceries list.
I could just open the lid for them, and set out a line of small spoons, to be hospitable!:giggle:

I did see some of them, in a tree that is sort of next to a larger tree, and wondered if the larger tree was blocking the freezing cold wind, for them. They sure know what to do.

It is not as freezing cold, tonight as it was last night, but it is still extremely cold, outdoors.
I am once again, very thankful for a warm place, to eat and sleep.
Gratitude is a good feeling.
Good night, friends.
Good night Kaila. I'm grateful for you🌺

I too, am thinking of @Ruthanne and of Suzy, today,
and also of @Blessed and others who have shared their recent and ongoing difficulties amongst us.

I had a rise in my own anxieties, yesterday and the past 2 nights, which has been challenging for me.

I am also thinking of others here at SF, who have offered encouragement, or simple kindness, and supportive understanding to others. Those posts lift us all.
