..because Paracetamol is sold without prescription here in the UK.. people don't realise what a dangerous drug it is.. It's an excellent mild painkiller, but even the smallest overdose can seriously damage the liver.. and apparently one of the most painful ways to commit suicide is by a paracetamol overdose.. , so some years ago the govt mandated that we could only buy a maximum of 2 packs of 16.. at a time Farce really, because it's sold everywhere, supermarkets Pharmacies, corner shops, even some fish and chip shops.... so if someone wants more than the legal amount, they just queue up again, and buy another 2 packs.. because it's 2 packs per transaction..

You are probably right there in regard to road rules etc, but I believe we have a particular problem here in North Somerset as regards driving standards.

There is always on any day heavy congestion to the east of Bristol on the M4/M5 motorway intersection and that can be especially bad in the summer holiday season with so many heading away on holiday to Devon and Cornwall.

As motorists clear that congestion and begin the run down the M5 into North Somerset, frustration at the delays can mean that with some their foot goes down, you get applauding driving standards, and then it happens.

Accidents on the M5 through Somerset have reached unbelievable levels in recent years and it seems the motorway is closed or partly closed almost on a daily bases.

The police have been having a crackdown in recent weeks in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents by having a well advertised campaign of booking any driver found doing anything more than 70mph.

It seems to be having some effect but only time will tell, and with the Schools half term holidays beginning next week all of us locals are hoping that trend continues.
 
Welcome from sunny southern California. On our first trip to the UK, we put 1000 milees on a rental cr. Our names for eac other were "get over" and "shut up". Thereafter, on subsequent trips, we went by rail.
