Thanks, peramangkelder!
Since he grew up with dogs making him feel awful, he really doesn't want to try. I had a cocker spaniel when we got together. He wasn't allergic to her, but he was allergic to the springer spaniel I had at the same time. He liked the springer, but the cocker didn't like him. She was jealous of him. He was not allergic to her. I would not want to try a dog and then have to give it back because it didn't work for him. That would be unfair to the dog. Now in his older years, he is a little more tolerant on a personal level. But at this point in our lives there would be no one to take the dog should both of us pass. Most of our relatives have passed away and the ones that remain, would not take our animals. So we won't get anymore.Ohh, that's heartbreaking. Are there any hypoallergenic dogs you could get? I grew up with Samoyeds, which are supposedly not as bad
It truly is.Oh wow - gorgeous photo!

I would not take in an animal and then have to take it back to a shelter. That's just flat out wrong. That's like having a kid and taking it back to the hospital. Animals are people too. So I would have to be assured that someone I knew and trusted would adopt it if we passed. There's no one I know who fits.Right, that makes sense. I used to walk dogs from the shelter nearby, so if you have one of those, that could be a way to get a fix![]()
