I am an author, painter, and I live in the sticks. I'm of retirement age. I write for the fun of it, to provide self-therapy and because it's important to me. For the writer all of life is fodder. Painting is a freeing. I live with my husband, three cats and around a flock of wild turkeys. My husband is doing a study of these turkeys.

The area provides little in the way of social interaction with those of like mind. So I came looking for you. Now, they say if you want to find something, you have to stop looking, for it to appear. However, sometimes one has to stop looking in the right place.:)

One of the things I've found is that as my friends and family have aged, our choices have led us to be in different mental spaces. Perhaps in this place our spaces will overlap.

I want to thank all of you for your kind welcomes. I tried to figure out how to reply without putting in a quote, since I wanted reply to everyone at once, but alas I could not find it. So... One of the nice things about signing up for this forum was that I was not required to hand over my soul in the process. So many places have rules which can change at anytime. We wouldn't buy a house or a car that way, but we are supposed to be willing to do that one line. It's nice that was not required here.

Thanks again for the lovely welcomes. 'tis good. Pookie, I like what you say about radioactive cats. It made me laugh. Good to know you're a writer. Sometimes my statements to nonwriters leaves them thinking I'm nuts. Of course, I'm sure that's true. So... SifuPhil, is it safe in your closet, or will my soul be visited by termites?

I just posted a reply to this, and it seems to have disappeared into oblivion. Hmm. I'm not a closet kind of person. If you don't mind, I'll visit the rest of the house. :playful:Some of my conservative relatives wish I would be. Life has taught me to be a what you see is what you get person. The rest takes too much energy.
 
Good to know. Thank you. Where's he moving? Hopefully not to Alberta. The fires are horrible there right now. We had a bunch of them here in Oregon last summer. Some of the wildlife did not have enough water or food. We've gotten quite a bit of rain this winter, but not nearly as much as we did when I was a kid. Hell is descending. So I guess all we can do is bring hot dogs, marshmallows and pointy sticks.
 
What does reputation mean?

I got a notification from someone, and it said I could reply. So I did and it was posted here. Now. I'm confused and apparently did not reply to that person and the notification talking about reputation is gone. For Pete sake.
