Hi! I'm just curious...

I'm from what a lot people consider 'The Industrial North' of England. In fact it's a lovely place with lots of beautiful countryside. We live by the sea.

How the heck did they come up with that main road name and point name? (yeah, that one) ;) :ROFLMAO:
You looked it up! I don’t know how they came up with the names. I’ve only lived here for 37 years. Everyone calls it the Island. I guess that’s how they came up with the main road name…. But it’s not an island. It’s a peninsula. The other road is anyone’s guess… but it’s an amusing name😆

Oh geez. A separate island? Is that like Martha's Vinyard? Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Beyond where the houses are is a green area and that is a State Park. Beyond that, you can see smoke stacks and that is Baltimore city. I live in Maryland.
It’s a great place to live except in hurricane season. With global warming and climate change, I am now worried about being flooded here and think it would be wise to move, but I love it so much here!

I just realized that I rarely travel but I "know" areas only from books.
Baltimore? I've read every Anne Tyler book so I feel like I've been there many times.
Australia? I just finished Liane Moriarty's "Here One Moment" and we were flying all over from Tasmania to Perth.
Canada? Louise Penny's Three Pines Village must be real, it sure seems like it.
North England? Catherine Cookson over and over.

Anyway I'm from West Virginia and it doesn't get a lot of literature, but I miss the hills:

Born in Oregon and have lived in New Jersey, Arizona, California and now Florida.

Lived as a child in Oregon, New Jersey and Arizona. I lived in California as an adult and was married in San Diego and we moved to Florida to be near family.

But it had a really great song... Almost heaven... 🎶 Blue Ridge Mountains, 🎶 Shenandoah River. 🎶
I hear life is old there. :giggle:
🎶 Country road, take my home
To the place, I belong
West Virginia , mountain mama
Take me home, country roads 🎶

I live in Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦 Cape Breton , Nova Scotia. We live very close to Bras D’Ore Lake. It’s not a true lake; it’s not fully enclosed so it’s salt water. We have a beautiful view of the lake from our house. IMG_6387.jpeg

Maryland here also, but about an hour from Baltimore. I live in a suburb of Washington, DC, which is surrounded by Maryland on one side and Virginia on the other. I thought the question about Martha's Vineyard was interesting. We used to vacation on the Vineyard every summer. I'd say that the area around Baltimore has the best crab cakes in the world, and Martha's Vineyard (a true island) is one of the best vacation places in the world. But it's very Massachusetts in its flavor, and not really like Baltimore, though I don't know what island MaidMarian is on, or what it is like. It looks beautiful from the picture.

I grew up and lived for many years in NJ, moved to Maryland for job reasons, and when we retired, we moved to Washington State, which we loved. We eventually returned to Maryland to live near one of our children.
