Personally, I am more than a little dismayed at the amount of attention given to negative news reports and how little recognition is given to all the positive events globally… and there is a lot… so to highlight this, my thread is about positive occurrences.
Like this one:


India became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first on the south pole. On Wednesday (23/8/23), the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft successfully touched down on the lunar surface.

So why is the South Pole so important? Well... it is because it has long been of interest to space agencies and scientists, because, the region's shadowed craters are thought to hold greater concentrations of water ice than elsewhere on the lunar surface. This could be of critical importance for establishing long-term human settlements on the moon

I am a Space Enthusiast …so this is of great interest to me and I am so excited to see what other agencies are going to do in the future with this recent development!

Some may be everyday events: some mind blowing: some heart warming.
Whatever the case… somewhere in the world, something incredible is happening and nothing is better for the psyche than to know there are magical, beautiful things in the world… wonderful acts of kindness and bravery in the most unlikely places, and it gives us hope.

My beloved Grandpa (RIP) suffered from Parkinson during the
last few years of his life.
 

I feel happiest when I am immersed in nature.
My love of nature began in early childhood when I woud go on walks with my Father and he would stop every now and then to answer my endless questions !
He never got tired of explaining… he gave me the greatest gift of life!
He said "one can find all the answers in a forest, a tree or even a blade of grass, if we take the time to look."

 
Meet Hertfordshire’s "longest-serving fire investigation dog." This lovable chap has put his paws up and retired.
Reqs, a black 11-year-old, Labrador, has worked for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service since joining in 2012.

Nikki Harvey, his handler, told BBC Breakfast Show, he was "an amazing search dog" and was preparing for his new life as her pet.
During his years of service he attended about 500 incidents.

The nations found in the South Pacific China Seas are getting much more support [financially and staffing] from the much larger nations such as USA/India/Australia/NZ etc. They extends as far north as Taiwan and further south to Phillipines/Japan/South Korea and the smaller South Sea Pacific Isles. This is a positive move which will benefit them specifically but also the region in particular and the known democractic world!!
 
Now if this isn’t one of the most positive mind blowing discoveries of all time…the smallpox vaccine.


Over thousands of years, smallpox killed hundreds of millions of people. The rich, the poor, the young, the old. It was a disease that didn’t discriminate, killing at least 1 in 3 people infected,even Mozart and Abraham Lincoln were infected.

In 1980, the World Health Assembly declared smallpox eradicated , and no cases of naturally occurring smallpox have happened since.
 
Today something sweet happened to me.
My hubby is away on business for a couple of days.
I decided to do my online grocery shopping.
When it arrived I had great difficulty taking the
bags to the kitchen because I had hurt my leg horse riding yesterday.

The delivery chap saw me limping, and to my surprise, he made me sit down and carried everything to the kitchen and carefully placed the groceries on the kitchen counters.
He refused any money for doing this (it was not his job). He did it because of his good heart.
I treasure such kind moments in my life. There are many kind people in the world.

Thank you Patty 🤗 It’s not serious
I tried out a new saddle which was not the right fit for me and strained a muscle getting off the horse.
Will be ok in a few days with the help of some effective liniments.

I too had a father who suffered with Parkinson's Disease. It was pitiful to see him suffer towards the end. Here was a man who loved to sing, had a tremendous memory and yet it took him from go to whoa in a matter of 6 years. He couldn't get his words out and I had to tell the nurses what he was trying to say. It was indeed a blessing when he finally departed this earth.

We had to have the Smallpox jab before we were accepted in Australia in l947 - I still have the scar to prove it.

Fortunately my Grandpa died before he suffered too much. I know how this must have affected your family 🤗
 
A public square in Georgia's oldest city has been renamed after a black woman who played a major role in the US Civil War.

Born into slavery in 1848, Susie King Taylor was highly educated at a young age despite laws banning education for black people in southern states.

Her name replaces a pro-slavery former US vice-president.
This is the first time in 140 years that Savannah has renamed one of its town squares.

The decision by the Savannah city council comes after they considered several other names for the square - previously named after John C Calhoun - a staunch advocate for slavery in the decades preceding the US Civil War.

Such a delightful tribute … An airport in France will be renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth II after receiving permission from King Charles, officials in the town have said.

Le Touquet, in northern France, received the blessing from the King on Monday, its town hall said.
Touquet-Paris-Plage airport will be Elizabeth II Le Touquet-Paris-Plage International Airport.
