Rotate the crop into fresh soil or change the variety.

Nancy, those look like heirlooms altho a lighter variety than I've picked up. Those mahoganys and red chiefs are great. Breeders bred so long for huge size, deep red color and juiciness that sometimes the taste is lost, so I bet yours are wonderful!

Well no, I would assume now you're using fresh soil each time. Hmmm, they do need heavy water. I don't know then.
