Home repairs snowballing

I had my boiler furnace serviced. The technician said it needed a new boiler feed valve and auto bleeder. It was also extensively clogged with mineral deposits. He also reported that my sump pump wasn't working and the motor was hot, so he unplugged it. He doesn't do sump pump repair, so now I'm going to have to get someone to look at that.

The list of repair is growing. I'm beginning to wonder if investing in her previous residence in her previous residence than the money she is spending now combined with the cash offer made to buy this home in her previous residence. The pictures of her previous after renovation look really nice.

I sent a quote request through Angi about sump pump repair or replacement and one plumber responded so far. His price, he stressed without seeing it, would be $1200 - $1800. This is getting ridiculous. He struck me as egotistical and spent close to 10 minutes expounding on how good he was and that he did exceptional quality work and usually had to turn down more jobs that he had time for. Made it sound like he was doing me a favor by even answering my request. He may be good, but priced himself out of a job.

It's hard to tell, from your pictures, just what kind of sump pump you have. If you go to the Home Depot, Lowe's. Menard's web sites, there are several sum pumps in the $75 to $200 price range. Home Depot, especially, has a list of contractors that they recommend for various repairs, If you have a decent hardware store nearby, that sells pumps, they, too will probably have contractors that they recommend. I would be a bit skeptical of any workmen who are using sites like Facebook or Angie's List to solicit business,

There are several UTube videos that show how to replace a sump pump....a good way to educate yourself on what is involved.

Finally, I would not delay this repair. Given the reports of the storms that have hit the NE recently, you could wind up with a flooded basement if your area gets hit with a major storm.

I bailed out the sump by hand until I couldn't scoop any more up with a pail. I though I had reached the bottom, but after shining a light into it, I can see there's some sort of grate or grille that on top of some bricks or blocks. I also upended the pump to see if I could clean the bottom. I think the pump is shot.

Good advice. Wonder how long this will remain as an undone project to be viewed here.

This is why I bought a condo. The only things I am responsible for are my appliances and the blower that distributes my heat and AC. Plus I don’t have to worry about yard work.
