Okay, good, so he already has a job. I know sometimes it just catches up to you if you have too many bills and that can result in homelessness, so if all he needed was some "kick-starting" that's fine by me.
I agree that more than one person could have been helped with that amount of money - I believe they were buying all brand-new furniture and appliances for him, rather than lightly-used stuff. It's like the house two doors down from my place - they receive welfare, food stamps and all sorts of other aid and drive a vehicle that cannot be legal, but they just got a nice new 50" flat-screen TV.
I realize that homelessness can be brought on by external forces, but also know that it can be a personal choice.
