Hope this doesn't offend the easily offended

For the record, parents were told they couldn't beat their children to a pulp, punch them out, break their bones, lock them up, starve them, or otherwise abuse them.
They weren't told that they couldn't discipline them.

I find no fault with the more modern approach.
I agree that the state should protect children from parental abuse. However, sometimes the state goes way too far.
Decades ago, a friend of mine told his teenage daughter that she needs to keep away from a neighbor girl because she had a foul mouth and dressed like a slut. One afternoon, my friend came home early and saw his daughter hanging out with that "bad" girl. He became angry and he slapped her on the shoulder. The "bad" girl's mother saw this and reported him to child protective services. CPS came down on him like an avalanche. It took many months and hundreds of dollars for an attorney to get out from under the state's pressure.

I don't know where this took place, but found this about CA:
https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/in-the-state-of-california-is-it-legal-to-slap-you-1723982.html

Wherever that family lived, it's a pretty sure bet he never laid hands on his children again.

Case law would help, but in the absence of finding a citation, examples may include, biting, choking, throwing them and such.

You're the second person to tell me this was on facebook, although the other was said to be 3 years ago. Again, I first wrote this about 7 years ago. Even if they have changed some of the the words, (like THEY, to YOU), I'm starting to feel a wee bit honored.
Did some google searching and found very similar things posted a lot of places, not just facebook. However nothing as old as 7 years, so @squatting dog you appear to have gone viral! Or semi-viral anyway.

God doesn't need to be in school. You have Sunday School for that. They stick God in schools, then we should stick math and history in Sunday School. It works both ways. Yes, I do believe in God, but not the devil. I believe in the separation of church and state. No God or religion in politics. No God in regular school either. I don't want religion influencing politics or school. You don't need to make the children recite The Lord's Prayer. The more you force religion on people at a young age, the more you turn them away from it.

I just saw this post on FB. Somehow, it makes me feel better that you didn't really sit and think up all of this by yourself, @squatting dog . :)

I don’t give a Rats butt, who this offends, but I stand by it. War is coming, sooner or later! You the Government!! You are all a bunch of cowards! You raised the cost of living so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children (single parents stand no chance)
😥
. You took God out of schools. Parents were told 'No you can't discipline your kids'. Well, now most of those kids are rude and out of control. You shall reap what you sow! We have taken a whole generation and turned them into selfish, entitled brats who have no respect for people, property or authority! You deem people with terminal illnesses and some with only a few months to live…fit for work!!! You allow our veterans of war to go homeless and hungry but give out millions to foreign aid!!! You save drug addicts over and over again but refuse to give free diabetic supplies to those who need them to stay alive. You bend over backwards to be politically correct, too scared to say enough is enough, in case you offend someone. You put the retirement age up so people must work until they drop. You take care of prisoners and give them everything under the sun (food, medical, education, representation, money, rehabilitation) yet you cause the elderly, those that have paid their debt to society and their families, to go broke caring for them either at home or in a nursing home... THINGS NEED TO CHANGE!
Copy & paste if you have the guts!
( I am betting most of my friends don't have any guts. Offended now? I don't need to be popular, I just need to be true to myself and my standards!) Can I get an amen?

I really don’t give a Rats ass who this offends, I stand by all I say. Collapse is coming, sooner or later!

Ok, (deep breath), ranting is over.
I love the thread title, as it neatly boxes folks who maybe were not going to like your OP into a corner from the word go! ;):sneaky::)

However, "though not offended in the least", I was disappointed you rowed back on your thread title statement, and this has put me off considering what you've said beyond that point in your rant!

The easily offended. I think this all started with the anti-bullying campaigns in schools. It was the correct move, but as per usual the pendulum swung way too far the other way. All of a sudden everything became offensive. That, and many people actually enjoy being offended...it gives them the moral high ground...makes them feel better about themselves and better than you or I.
I'm easy going. I've got over 400 posts since I've joined and can't recall calling anyone out for being offensive....although I could be wrong.
There is a lesson in life isn't there, (one I've been very slow learning in all truth), that very often a lot more can be achieved when you choose to avoid offending other folks as much as possible, rather than insisting on "giving it to them straight" every time, (as you might see it when you say or write something).

There is plenty of room left between "giving it to them straight" and making your message too weak to be worth making at all, such as when you make efforts at persuasion, (using an excess of diplomacy if necessary). I'm told that in some countries people go to great lengths to avoid giving offence, particularly to strangers, and just maybe they're on to something we can still learn from there(?).
