How Are You Feeling Now?, 🤔,😀🥺

I'm prepped for tomorrow for a change, feeling confident, almost ready for the inevitable holiday family feuds to break out.

But things are going very well right now. Between one thing and another I'm not the miserable cuss who came here meekly looking for a little support just months ago.

Thanks folks. Such a great community!

I'm feeling a little apprehensive today, I'm having my family (15) for Christmas tomorrow for the first time in many years, my cooking skills are certainly not what they used to be, never mind all the extra work, my daughter has been helping me some, thank goodness.....so.....lots of prep cooking today..:unsure:
Think of it this way and perhaps it'll take away a little of the anxiety you're feeling:

These large family gatherings that only happen at times like this are special and the food is just one part of it but in the end, it's the gathering of loved ones that's special and those are the memories your family members will be left with months and years from now - not what food was served or how it tasted.

Enjoy the gathering because you're part of it and deserve to enjoy your time with family too. Don't be shy about enlisting help when you need it. There are many here that have enjoyed these gatherings in the past but no longer have the opportunity to do so for various reasons so make the the most of these gatherings while you still can. They're precious and can't be replaced.

Yes, @MrPants, I do realize all that and it's the reason I'm making the effort, but thanks for the reminder.

This is the first Christmas without my husband. I'll be alone but I'm getting used to it. No decorating or tree or Christmas songs or movies for me this year. No grand kids. I'm spending tomorrow like I do any other day. The most difficult days have been what would have been his birthday (November 2nd...he died October 13th, and Thanksgiving...his favorite holiday when we had his kids over).

Colleen, my husband has been gone for several years now. I also found that treating Christmas like any other day works best for me also. I don't put up a tree or do any Christmas decorating, no Christmas shows or movies, and all of it together helps a lot. I hope it does you too! Hang in there. It will get easier as time goes on.

God bless you and keep you feeling well and surrounded by us here who care very much 💕

I’m sick so am bummed of course. My kids will drop off dinner tomorrow and luckily I have 2 very needy Maltese that won’t leave my side when I’m sick. I love the little buggers a lot:)).
What's wrong Terry? It's such a lousy time of the year to be sick, but I agree, a devoted pet by your side is a keeper and will help you recover quickly. Good vibes to you.

I like this strategy. I think it works.

Feeling a little frightened. I cleaned my bathroom and washed some things out in the bathroom sink early this morning. My neighbor was stomping and pounding on the floor real hard. not too long after. I have a right to use my bathroom at any time.

She has been doing that sort of thing whenever I run water for a little while. This morning it sounded like she was coming through her floor or my ceiling. I heard something like wood cracking.

Anyhow I think she is out of her mind! I am caring for my sick dog and don't have much energy but when I do have some I try to clean what needs it.

I woke up yesterday morning sick. Not sure if it’s a bad cold or a virus. I feel awful, have the chills, fever, etc. Now developing a cough.
I hope you don't have Covid. My friend, who I saw today, told me she just had Covid. Similar symptoms. I hope she wasn't contagious.

The woman above you sounds like a nut. Sorry you have to deal with that.

Definitely a nut. Since she lives above you, why would you running water bother her. Seems like you have a legitimate complaint for the building manager, though sometimes it’s not worth it.

I agree. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I really am tired of living here but don't have any good options right now. I'm stuck for awhile on the lease. Thanks for your concern. I just take it one day at a time.

Ruthanne, what’s happening to you is one reason I bought my condo on the top floor in a building with an elevator. I have been below people and it can really suck.
I hear you. I used to always get top floor apartments but this one was the only available at the time. There's no elevator here either but it's a larger apartment than the shoebox I had before. If I move again I will go somewhere that has an elevator and try for top floor.

I can't walk up too many steps any more. I'm on the first floor here which is good in one way but not in other ways.

Ruthanne, without an elevator you have no choice but to be on the first floor because it’s too big of a risk if your mobility gets compromised. I totally understand.
