How are you today?

Bad start. Mrs Oy was up during the night up-chucking! She's poorly - I think it's the Noravirus that's going around. That leaves just me who hasn't had it yet in the family we see on a regular basis.

Tai-Chi class this morning and boy was it a toughie! Lots of slowmo kicking drills. I think he does this on purpose when he knows that most of the class won't practice now until classes resume in January. I'll be doing at least a couple of session per week in the local park - cos I'm a dedicated nutcase haha!

Eldest daughter (The Oyling) is coming home on Friday for a week. WoooHoooo!
I had that once. It's worse than the stomach flu.

Cold weather is reported to be moving in; in the meantime it’s well above normal. We’re on the edge of the atmospheric river in the west.
The river caught up with us out here, @Jules. About 6am today, a real deluge came down for about a half hour. Some sub-localities got strong winds through we didn't here. But power went out. And so, between that and the socked-in sky, our house was darkish until after 10am, at which point there was some welcome light shining indoors.

Here in the southeast region, the power outages extended from Greenwood over to Creston, near the high mountains. Schools, stores, and cafés were closed, as were post offices and credit unions. The power remained out until somewhat after 4pm, so about ten hours in all.

Thanks to the line men, things are normal again.

@JBR, that river came in here about 3 a.m. It was straight down. No high winds in our backyard overnight or yesterday. They were nearby though as the power was gone for about 5 hours. Stores were closed in several places. We rarely lose power. I had to find a manual can opener. The crackers and cheese had no crackers. The plan to buy bread today wasn’t happening. Found out that the charger for our new phones was out of date. It wasn’t cold and the sun was shining. I even had a peaceful walk when there was less traffic out and about.

The stores were busy with people like us this afternoon.

I think I'm okay. There were big plans this morning to get up early to make blueberry scones. Not up as early as I was going to be but still planned to make scones. It didn't happen and now I don't wanna because I feel like a slug.

It's raining. Expected to rain all day. At least it's warm (59F).

BBL after I gather my wits.

You think you have problems? Well. Today is laundry day, and the sheets are in the washer. I took out another set of sheets and made up the bed. Trouble is, there are kitties printed on the sheets, and I put the sheets on upside down. What now? Do I sleep upside down?

It's always something!

Then...I was gonna get ahead of the game for tonight's supper. We're having chicken enchiladas, and I was going to make them now and refrigerate until time to throw in the oven. Not the right kind of cheese in my fridge so I trotted across the hall to DD's fridge to see if she has any. Nope. Means I gotta go to Publix. In the rain.

Well, a bathroom blew up last night. sewage up thru the shower and all over the floor. The plumber is coming this afternoon or sooner. I had to call the city and have them come out and turn off the water at the street. Thank God they are there 24/7 for emergencies. I know how to do it and have the tools but I just did/do not have the strength anymore in my arms and hands.

Maybe I am not so bad, the city guys really struggled to turn it. I am not looking forward to washing all the towels in the house I have used to clean up the mess. It is always something. I just hate being alone to deal with these big issues. Not what I wanted for Christmas.

I'm okay. Looking at a full day today. We're starting to prepare the home situation for the Winter-Solstice party we've customarily hosted here at our place, generally 20-35 people — all keeping warm and enjoying being around each other during the (sun-wise) darkest point. Everybody contributes some snack food, wine, juice, etc.

Also I have an important phone conversation lined up, concerning the business of our river conservation/restoration group.

I wish everybody who happens to read this a good day.

Gift wrapping today is the only main goal I have.
It's the one thing I procrastinate with this time of year.
Feels like I am wrapping gifts in wasted money since it all goes in the trash.
Talk about wrapping trASH, MY father once grabbed all the paper and boxes
off the floor, took the mess out in back garden area, and set fire to it....only prob
was, some gifts were in the mess also !!!!:giggle:
