How are you today?

Today was bright and not too cold. I left the windows open all day. There must have been rain in the early hours as all the balcony plants were watered which saved me a job!

I went visiting and had a nice afternoon, drinking coffee and chatting about all sorts of things and nothing in particular. :)

Friday and the weekend will be busy. I don't have much planned for tomorrow so, all being well, I will do a few chores and then relax.

We just traveled right through the city of Adelaide ,which many would know is the capitol city of South Australia

I took a couple of photos with my phone from the moving car but it gives anyone who’s interested a sneak view of the city

The huge Christmas tree thats put up each year by the City of Adelaide council in King William streetIMG_0381.jpeg

@hearlady ! Aldi has thermal Christmas jammies with pockets. I have 10 pairs of jammies. Did I need these? Damn straight I did! In my defense, three of the 10 pairs are silky and lightweight and two of the 10 are very, very heavyweight. So that left only five that I can wear in "normal" winter weather. Now I have six. All except three have pockets. Jussayin'
Yay! I'll check it out!

It's been raining all day here, and I ache like crazy, all over, but particularly in my right shoulder and the right side of my neck. This started the day before yesterday when I tried to get up out of my arm chair. When I put both arms on the armrests and pushed up, something went in my right shoulder, but nearer to the right side of my neck. The pain feels like it's actually my collar bone, but I know it isn't. However, it does make everything difficult to do, even though I'm left-handed. So now I've got to be very careful for the next few days at least, which is annoying as I've got lots of things that need doing around the house and garden.

@BJintheUK if it doesn't get better you might wanna get it checked out and make sure it's not fractured.

Morning everyone. I finally got a full night of sleep and feel somewhat better today. Things at work have upset me as of yesterday. They have taken our vacations away indefinitely until they get us more people. The admin cut our Earned Illness Bank payout from 100% to 75% because one person in the entire facility abused it. So if I want a vacation I'll hafta get sick and then starve to death. LOL

Day is going well, so far. :) I've just finished Lucius' second walk and, holy crows, it was cold! It's the icy wind!

Well, much to my son's relief, I'm finally, truly convinced that AI is unreliable and I should be completely skipping it. It's been wrong, and I mean really wrong, about a few minor things I've searched, in recent weeks. But the problem is that if it can be so very wrong about minor things that don't really matter, it can be just as wrong about important things like, say, looking up medication interactions.

And those are only the times I happened to know it was wrong.

Also, it's occurred to me that letting my PC think for me is not healthy for my aging brain. So, I've adjusted my search engine (Brave) to give me results without AI. And while I'm at it, I need to put that chess problem app back on my android.

Hope everyone is feeling well today. Having said that, I know we're all worrying about our Pepper, who is having a very hard time right now.

How am I? I'm all in a dither after checking my online banking. My life insurance premium (life insurance, not health insurance and has nothing to do with ACA) is debited on the 5th of each month. It shows up as "pending" usually on the 3rd until actually debited on the 5th. No pending notice this time. Hm.

This morning the pending notice is there for today for more than twice the amount. The premium for this policy increases every five years, but does not increase again after age 85.

What the what???? I've already messaged the credit union. They don't open until 9, but believe me, I'm gonna be all over this like white on rice!

Welp. Got that insurance :poop: all straightened out. Sort of. What it amounts to is that I no longer have life insurance:mad:. Sorry, but that's not a premium I could pay in my wildest dreams. I'll step up savings every month in the amount I was paying for the premium and hope for the best.

Excuse me while I go pout.

Wise policy and good advice.

so it doubled for no reason?

Good rainy morning. I don't know how I am yet because I just got up. I letchanno in a little while.

@MarciKS The rep I talked to at the insurance company said the increase was because of my age. Why didn't I get any notice? He didn't know. Said notice was sent in September. I say BS. According to the policy, premium wasn't supposed to go up at 85. Who knows?

But lemme tell ya, folks, Suze Orman (the money guru) is full of it re term insurance. What I've paid in premiums in the past however many years, has more than paid for what the payout would be when I finally become a crispy critter.

If you're still young enough, like before 60-ish, get yourselves a whole life policy. Trust me on this one.

I dunno if there's a plan today.

There are days...

I swear DD would argue if I mentioned that the sky is blue when the sun is shining. She'll argue no matter what I say

For instance, there are two most common kinds of grass for lawns here. One is Bermuda, the other is fescue. Bermuda turns brown in winter, although the roots still grow underground, and greens up again in the spring. It grows well in sun and is drought tolerant and disease resistant.

Fescue will usually grow anywhere in this climate, sun or shade, and stays green all year round but is prone to fungus.

There's Bermuda in front. DD takes care of the front lawn. I have fescue in back and spend a lot of time and money fighting fungus as soon as the weather gets hot, which is why I overseed every year. The new grass usually only lasts until about late June, then the fungus attacks.

The other day I needed to go to the garden enter to get grass seed. DD told me it's too late to plant fescue. Time to plant fescue here is between October and early February. I mentioned that. She argued that it's already too cold and insisted that she has fescue in front. It's Bermuda and has already turned brown for the winter. The areas in back that weren't killed off by fungus are fescue and green...because it stays green all year.

When it dawned on me that she was arguing for the sake of argument, not because I was wrong, I gave it up.
Yesterday when I got all bent about the blankety-blank life insurance and signed up instead for a policy that pays x-dollars/day for hospitalization, she told me I was wasting money. It's $24/month. It pays directly to me, not to hospital or doctor. Who knows, maybe I'll be rejected for this one, too. If not, it's something...

If the weather is chilly and uncomfortable, she'll insist that it's warm. No matter how cold a store is, with customers all bundled up indoors, she'll insist that it's too hot because she's just one of those "hot-blooded" folks who's always too warm. Therefore, everybody else is out of step.

It drives me around the bend. No matter the subject, she'll take the opposite tack. What? What on earth drives this? She positively must be in charge.

You'd think I'd learn not to state a fact or express an opinion! Oy.

There was no plan to begin with, but DD made one. We ran some errands and stopped by the jewelry store where I asked if the diamond that I mentioned yesterday could be attached somehow to the initial letter on a necklace that I'd got for DGD. Nope because the necklace and initial are plate, not gold. Instead, I opted to have him set the stone in prongs and a little loopy thing to add it to a chain.

I remembered that when Best Aunt died a few years ago, my cousin gave me a bunch of gold chains. Tested them and found two that are real gold. I'm gonna take both chains when I pick up the pronged diamond to see which looks better. Yay. Saved myself a buncha $$ because I won't have to buy a chain.

The other necklace, the gold plate one with the initial letter, will be a birthday gift in April. It's pretty and has a double chain to make it look like two necklaces.

Christmas and birthday. Killed two birds with one stone:).

Guess who isn't cooking tonight? I had three turns at the stove this week and have declared it off limits until next week.

@Georgiagranny, the necklaces you are describing sound pretty. If you have a picture, I'd love to see them. ☺️ Are you ordering in tonight? That always feels festive on the occasions we do it.
