How are you today?

How am I today? My heel spur is aching something fierce, no surprise after spending several days on my feet prepping for and then hosting the last holiday party. I just slathered it with the topical gel that brings some relief, and will keep my feet up as much as possible today.

The OA in my hands is also acting up. No surprise there either, cookie and pizza making is labor intensive on the fingers and hands. Also slathered those joints and will avoid food prep as much as possible so I don't have to keep washing it off and reapplying.

Other than the above, I'm a happy camper today.

Thanks, @Medusa. The pain has eased now that I'm not standing & walking in the kitchen for ten hours a day. Given that I have a heel spur, it's likely it will bring some level of pain for the rest of my life, but usually it's more an annoyance than any level of debilitation.

Same is true with the osteoarthritis in my knuckles. I spend nearly a month each year abusing my hands while working with cookie dough, and the OA gets pretty cranky. It's settling down now, fortunately.

The over-the-counter diclofenac sodium topical gel (NSAID) seems to help both areas. I couldn't use it while all the baking was going on, of course.

Had 4 year old grandson yesterday - he decided not to spend the night and we don't push him. He'll be back again today when his big cousins (13 & 10) and aunt and uncle (DD & DSIL) are here for lunch and final cookie decorating.

DS & DDIL (parents of the 4 year old and 22 month old) live only 7 miles away, so shuttling the kids between houses isn't a big deal and gives their parents a break. DD is about 15 miles away, so we usually see her family weekly.

After today, I'll pack and freeze nearly all the remaining cookies. Last year we still had some until early summer - and they remained delish!
