How can I watch occasional games at low cost?

I'd like to be able to relax sometimes and watch a professional sports game, without subscribing to an ongoing expensive monthly streaming service.

How can that be done?
I don't understand the current ways of watching TV.

I have internet, and I don't need to see every game of any sport, just some of my favorite regional teams. Not all of those, either. Some of the MLB, nba, and football games, that is.

It seems that the only ways to view them, are the expensive packages of lots of channels.

I hardly watch any TV or sports, overall, and i have a limited budget,
but it seems like you must buy it all, or never see any.

Are there any options that I haven't discovered or understood?

We are in a similar situation, because we have no tv, and we can't afford to pay online fees. What i do is a always refresh my YouTube home page. After you find the highlights of the game u want, there are usually many more with different teams. I love soccer and the NFL and follow them. Good luck! :)

It's a terrible situation. This year MLB is charging $150 to watch baseball games. I ordered it at the start of the season, but when I tried to watch its a message told me I had to pay $150 to do so--which I had already done! I called them, and the guy I spoke to sounded maybe Pakistani (?) and I could barely understand him. I asked to speak to someone else, he told me there wasn't anyone else! Finally I told him just to cancel my subscription. He did.

Now I watch Weds. on Prime, Yankee games, which are pretty much all I care about, are free then. And once in awhile I go to my son's place to watch (his dad paid for all sports including baseball). All they care about now is making money. Late stage capitalism's natural conclusion.

I have Paramount Plus through my Walmart Plus acct.
However Paramount Plus without Showtime is like $7.99 a month here I think. I can watch NFL football when it's in season and I think right now I could watch soccer if I wanted to. But the basketball stuff costs to watch.

I see soccer, golf and rugby right now. There's March Madness NCAA in 2026. There's no baseball that I can see.

Have you tried hooking up an antenna to your TV? I bet I get close to fifty channels with my antenna, that includes all the local channels so can watch local sports and news.
Agreed, I live real close to all the tv stations in my city. I get about 80 stations. Some I haven't heard of before.

The weekends have a lot of free broadcast games frequently mediocre or know nothing about the team or players. That being said sometimes they are quite watchable. Middle of week is tougher because it's pay now. Some services let you subscribe for free/register to view it but it's streaming on the internet.

Thank you very much for that additional idea.
