How can people, or are they called monsters, who do this...

I don't understand how anybody can do this to animals... Duke, our new rescue, was extremely healthy a week ago. We were out for our usual morning walk, and when I saw him, he had already swallowed something that looked like a pancake. He is going bald in areas, and his appetite is gone. His gums are not the vibrant pink colour they were a week ago... His energy level is nil...We have an appointment with our vet at 2:30 today, but it sounds like he was poisoned... If he is suffering as much as he is right now, he won't be coming home with us... I will not let him suffer in any way or form...

I just don't understand why anybody would do this on a quiet country road... Just as why would people put things in candies or apples during Halloween... If someone is that &^$%ing unhappy, or sick in their minds... do yourself in... Why do a harmless animal or kids in... WHY????

Depending on what happens at the vets this afternoon... I will post the outcome...

Makes me so angry...

I agree I hate it when I read stories aBOUT PEOPLE NEGLETING ANIMALS. i HAVE A cHI AND SHE IS A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY AND SO LOVING JUST DONT UNDERSTAND IT
@bill16652 it's &^$%ing sick, and what this rescue of ours already has gone through in his short life... Making me get mader and mader...

Animals, especially people’s personal pets, should be protected from harm. If they are being poisoned by someone giving them treats or pieces of meat that have been loaded with poison, they should be treated the same as if they harmed an adult in the same manner by court judges. Put their butts in jail and give them a hefty fine.

I hope your animal is able to recover from whatever it is ailing from.

Mike I’m so sorry! 💔 I hope Duke is diagnosed quickly and is able to make a full recovery.

I hate people sometimes. I’ve seen horrible things at the shelter at which my daughter and I volunteer. Pets who are surrendered, or rescued from hoarding cases for example, who have been treated so neglectfully that they have open weeping sores, or are emaciated to the point they look like skeletons, or have stinking skin conditions, eyes crusted shut, matting so bad that the underneath skin has torn and become infected, open wounds with maggots breeding in them. So much heinous neglect of animals. It’s unconscionable. 😢

Any news about your dog?

Our former neighbor where we lived prior had two Huskies. He had his backyard fenced in using chain link fencing for the dogs to go out and have a place to run. By the way, his two dogs are brothers from the same litter. So, one day, he noticed the one Husky wanted to only lie around and wasn’t taking food, but did vomit a few times. After two days of that, they took him to the Vet.

The Vet ran a battery of tests on the Husky and found that he had swallowed some form of a poison that is used to kill rats. Someone probably put a piece of the poison in a piece of meat and fed it to the dog through the chain link fence. The dog was suffering and the Vet said he could try to save the animal, but it was going to be expensive. My neighbor didn’t care about the expense, so he told the Vet to go ahead and work on the dog, but if he has not improved over the next five days, he should put him down.

The dog did not respond to the treatment the Vet was using and was sicker, so the owner had the dog euthanized. My neighbor then had the chain link fence removed and had an all weather fence installed that was enclosed and a camera that takes in the whole backyard. He bought another Husky from the same breeder and “Jack” the other Husky accepted the 3 month old puppy right away. The dog that was euthanized was given a proper burial in a pet cemetery.

Some people are just plain old A/H’s.

Thank you Everyone...

Duke is still with us, he was tested for some things, no poisoning...no Lyme disease.... Our vet has put him on some medication... and we'll see how he does...

Our vet can't figure out what is wrong with him... So what they did give us, we'll see if that helps my boy...

I will keep in touch about everything...

Part of me still thinks he was poisoned... but we will wait and see, and I told the vet, if I see no improvement, we will be back... But he did all of his breakfast the moment it was put down for him, which he has not done for the last little bit...

Thanks again, everyone...

And Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends here...
God Bless

Sorry to read this, Mike.

There is no explaining things like this. There are indeed people who get pleasure from doing such things. It's horrible. It's sometimes terrible to know what the people we see around us are capable of.

Hope the doggy is doing well.

Good news! Well, mostly.

Whatever the cause, the important thing is that your dog seems to be on the mend. So take that joy and celebrate it.

it was the “baldness in areas” that got me. That would not have happened that quickly from poisoning.

Hair loss, no appetite, lethargic, can be signs of cushings, and or hypothyroidism. Did the vet test for those?

They can be controlled with diet change and medication.

I have seen what cushings and/or insulin resistance does to a horse. They can start out with a lot of energy and then all of a sudden it’s like hitting a brick wall and they quit.

Please keep us updated. We are all praying for Duke to get better..🙏🙏
