How daring are you?

When it comes to amusement park rides, zip lines, scuba diving, roller coasters, etc., how daring are you?
There was not a ride I wouldn't take. One job I had was climbing and topping trees, I have charged into burning buildings, Repelled out of helicopter's, Hung under a Blackhawk over Linville Gorge 1500Ft in the air.
Now after my wreck and 140Ft fall.... the view off a building on TV entices panic...

Never got into those amusements. Must admit on rollercoasters, that I really never enjoyed being cranked up the slow climb to the starting top of those things while aware of the gravity and g-force rush that I would inescapably endure. So no. Not a candidate for bunji jumping off bridges.

That noted, I will still jump or swan dive from cliffs from as much as 15 feet high into river or lake waters. And not afraid to body surf in moderately scary Pacific whitewater shore waves that can be like being tossed around inside a disorienting clothes dryer. And snow ski at elite levels down slopes that terrify average skiers. In those cases, at levels I have confident control over while not having interest of pushing limits as most challenging their limits do. Been there done that, a young man's game.

I used to like to go whitewater rafting back in the '90s. I liked it so much that I bought my own raft. I'd rent a rowing frame and take people down the rivers in Colorado... Browns Canyon and the Royal Gorge. I also went on some guided rafting trips before I got my own raft.

The rivers in Colorado are really crowded now because of all the growth the state has experienced in the past 25 years, which must take some of the fun out of it. I hear they're so overrun with people and rafts that now you have to wait in line to launch your raft. I haven't gone since the '90s.

I also used to love to ski, but my knees can't handle it any more. I'd get vertigo on the chairlift sometimes, but found ways to deal with it such as not looking down. I'm generally not good with heights unless I'm in an enclosure of some sort, although I did roofing work when I was young and just dealt with the fear. I never did get over it, though.

I used to really enjoy roller coasters and such like, but after a head injury just turning my head too fast caused dizziness for a long time.
It eased, but even taking my 6yr old on a gentle swing boat caused me problems so in the end I gave up.

It seems I’m somewhat of a contradiction.

I consider myself risk-averse, and yet I love zip lining and aerial trekking. Ron and I take out the Razor and 4 wheel over all kinds of rough terrain. We both love kayaking, and look for Class III and IV rapids when we go. I’ve rock climed and repelled back down and loved it. We ride the bike all over. I love to hike, and to ride the very tall twisty water park slides. Would hang glide in an instant if it were presented to me.

But I won’t ride a roller coaster, parachute or bungee jump. I don’t speed, drive aggressively, or body surf.

So I don’t know where I am on the scale 🤷‍♀️

I never took any chances while flying, but I have known other pilots that have. Sometimes they will do things I don’t want to mention to try to catch up on lost time and others have taken chances to save fuel by flying at a higher altitude even though the air may have been rougher or more turbulent.
