For those who are not using their real name how did you pick the one your using?I am using the name of a doll I got when I was 4years old. My Moms Mother passed away and we weren't going to have a normal Christmas. No tree or toys.My Dad felt bad for me nd my sister so he bought us walking dolls.Every year since then my sister and I put our dolls under the tree.So I put my Sassy Susie under the tree and got my name,il_1588xN.5358281338_ed3h.jpg

Ah, well because that is my name. It is probably the first time I've ever used my actual name. I've been in many forums and on many interest or hobby sites where I used something else.

The reason I used my real name was because I had visited the site many times before joining to get a grip on the sort it is. The thing that was most notable were the strict rules and how well chats seemed to conform to them. This is one of the 'safest' sites I've ever been on.

I must have become rather immune to bad behavior over the years because I've been banned twice here for reasons that I had completely missed in my 'usual' behavior. The experience with other forums over the years had changed me to be sharp, edgy, and defensive. I hadn't noticed the change in myself. Being here for just a short time has made me very aware of myself. And, using my real name reminds me of who I think of myself as. Strange I know. But, being on the net does change a person and I can testify to that. So, by using my real name I can return to being my real self. I can now see that using cryptic names may seem cute but, actually can reveal a very defensive perspective.

In a place where we talk about what we talk about, and do it honestly one cannot really be defensive at the sametime while valuing the site for the reasons we do. You have to take off the armored suit and put down your weapons to find yourself on this site. Here, we are all too old and too near the end to keep kidding ourselves and others about ourselves, I think.

Because we have ducks in the UK that can type, and I is one.
I'm a rare speak-posh-quack-duck-speaker (hence the name Quackers cos ducks quack) and can swim off to my pond if I feel confrontational or feel the need to.
And yes, that picture is me. Cute huh? Ok, not a recent one obviously as I'm an OAP quacker, but I was pretty dam cute in my younger days don'tcha think. ;)

Well, aside from my first name commonality, bobcats tend to be independent and are not pack animals. They go on strolls in the early morning and evening, and take a nap during the day as I do. They are adaptable to most changing situations and are patient. So, it just seemed like we have a lot in common.

When I was a little boy in the backyard, a big bee landed on the back of my neck.

I gingerly walked around to the front of the house where my Dad was cleaning his golf clubs on the porch. I pointed to my neck and Dad swatted the giant bee away.

To this day, my Dad has called me Beeze or Beezer...over 50 years ago!

"OAP"; old age pensioner?
Don't you use that term over the pond ?... OAP..that's how all of us who are old enough to receive our old age pensions are referred to in the UK by everyone including the govt... It conjures up a picture of a very elderly bent over nearly dead human... IMO... not some of us young spritely 60's and 70 year olds.. ..

This is me...at 68...an OAP...
