How did you spend your Christmas day?

Well, I must admit I had a terrific Christmas Day with close family members and others I did not know. I went up to Maitland with my son whose partner lives there and we did some last-minute grocery shopping. We have Click-and-Collect at a Woolworths store. we put our phone order in and went off to collect it. When we looked in the bag, they had totally mucked up the order. We wanted 2 punnets of Strawberries and because they didn't have any they put in 3 punnets of Blueberries. Cottage Cheese became Brie Cheese and shallots became Basil. We took them back and got a refund and went to another store.
In the evening of Christmas Eve, we strolled around the streets because most homes were decorated with twinkling lights, Bubble blowing machines,
Snowmen and little Elves dancing around. The children loved it. Christmas music was loudly playing and everyone in a festive mood. We never had a
hot scorching day on Christmas Day, as it usually is, but a lovely mild cool day. Didn't count the calories and enjoyed all the Food. How was your day?

My Christmas Day was very eventful.

The alarm went off at 5.00am. Did a bit of tidying up, fed the chickens and cat. Had a light breakfast of coffee and two scotch finger biscuits.

Collected two elderly friends between 7.30 and 8.00am and drove them to our church where I was rostered on for steward duties. Church service started at 8.30am.

Both my son and daughter attended the service although neither see themselves as Christian these days.
Service ended at 9.20 and I had a few more steward duties before leaving.

Drove my friends back to my house for morning tea because neither would be with family on Christmas Day this year. Served scones with jam and whipped cream and we drank tea made in a teapot.

At 11.00am I drove both home with a packed lunch of garden salad and cold roast turkey. Cold Christmas food is not unusual in Australia. They were both very appreciative and we hugged like sisters.

At noon my daughter drove me to the home of my late husband's brother, and his family, for a sumptuous feast. We returned home later that afternoon, full as the proverbial goog, and went to bed early, tired but very happy.

Today my daughter and I hosted another get together at my home. 4 generations plus partners, 18 in all, contributed to the meal and the frivolities and we all had a good time together.

Right now I am in my bedroom having a rest. The house is almost back to normal, and I am about to take a nap.

Mostly alone, which I am used to...then about 3pm a couple came to visit and gossip and you know....got
2 flannel new shirts from them, and for a joke her
hubby bought me a kansas city mo chiefs shirt, he knows I cannot stand them lol....and I watched a
bunch of streaming stuff....all in all a satisfactory day...

My family celebrated Christmas eve so since I had nothing going on Christmas day I took down my tree. I actually felt a bit guilty about taking it down Christmas day but where I put it obstructs the view out of my front bay window and I like the view better than the tree. lol

Also had a nice phone call with my son who lives in another country, took a walk since the weather was decent and did some house chores.

My daughter came over and spent most of the day, we spent the day cooking and having long talks mostly of family and days in the past. My granddaughter and her family came over for a short visit as they were having her husband's family over later, my son and his family had planned on coming but he called that my granddaughter and her husband were in the bed very sick, running fever with the flu so they were missed....but all together it was a good Christmas.

A fab day yesterday! Felt odd being the oldest now that Mum is no longer with us. A nice moment when Likkle Grandson came downstairs clutching her big Teddy saying "This was Nana's and there are Nana hugs in it" 😢

Me and Mrs Oy. Two of our three children and their partners (Eldest daughter had to go home on 23rd as the trains were not reliable enough for her to stay for Christmas day.) Likkle Grandson and Likkle Grandaughter. Obviously it was mostly their day! 🄰

We had our family gathering Tuesday so we had just us two and the dog.
Phone calls from the sons and family in other states, then watched Landman.

It was great warm weather so a bit of a walk by the lake with Myer in tow (or leading really)
DH had brought home some sauced chicken wings from the deli where he works so I wouldn't
have to cook (surprise!!!)
It was a nice peaceful day, no complaints.
