How Do You Bathe?

Do you shower or take a bath or use the sink to wash up? This interests me because it's something I've wondered about. :)

Shower

This thread made me think of Dolly Parton:

“In the winter time, we just had a pan of water and we’d wash down as far as possible, and we’d wash up as far as possible,” she says of her childhood days in rural Locust Ridge, Tennessee, a mountain community in the northern valley of the Great Smoky Mountains. “Then, when somebody cleared the room, we’d wash ‘possible.’ That’s the way it was.”

I use the sink to bathe often, and wash my hair in the kitchen sink. Just a habbit I got into. I do take a bath or shower ever so often too.

I like my shower at home because it has a hand held shower head besides one way up over my head. The only time I ever do a sink bath is at my youngest son's because he has a deep bathtub/shower with jets in it. He thinks I should be happy with it but I can't get out of it by myself. I have to get my husband to come in and drag me out and that makes me feel like a beached whale!!

I need 2 showers and 2 shampoos/day. Remember when we were teenagers & we had overactive oil glands? Mine stayed that way. Friends are always telling me how lucky I am because I'll never look old because the oil prevents wrinkles. I'd rather have wrinkles & a lower shampoo bill....

I prefer showers over baths, normally. I take a shower, every so often. I take a bath a few times a year, if that. Vegans have very little offensive body odor, because the meat-derived sweat smell is not present in their biochemistry. After a climbing job, in 90+F°, yeah, I'll shower.

I shower. Every morning before work. On the weekends if I know I'm going to be outside in the garden or helping Ron with the house construction, I'll delay my morning shower till the work is done.. Or I'll take a 2nd shower later in the day if I get sweaty after I've already showered once. I occasionally take a bath, but usually only when I'm trying to ease tired muscles or I'm really sick and soaking in the tub feels like it might help.

The only time I use the sink is to wash my hands or face or brush my teeth. I've occasionally showered three times in a day, because if I feel dirty or smelly the only thing that makes me feel clean is to shower, not wash up in the sink.

Only shower. Never bath.

A friend of ours took a bath. He lives alone. Couldn't get out of the tub. Didn't have a cell phone handy. Was there about a day and a half till someone went to see when he didn't answer his land line.

It's very difficult to get out of a tub if you don't have hand holds to grab on to.

I like showers because you can wash your hair and I'm supposed to clean my eyelids every day.

The doctor recommends using baby shampoo because it won't sting your eyes. I think it's a good idea anyway.

Anything that stings your eyes is not good for you.

Hmmmm......someone mentioned saving water...........well, if you all put your cozzies on, line up in my garden, I'll give you all a shower that you wont forget with my hose pipe........😂

StarSong, I was just about to say the same thing. I can only climb in and out of a bathtub if it has one of those safety bars mounted on the wall. I think this is true of most of us as we get older. Hotels never provide that, of course. Most people prefer showers, so why do the hotels seem to provide only slippery bathtubs?

Exactly. Just as in the old days guest were asked about smoking/non smoking preferences, wouldn't it be great if the booking choice were bathtub or walk-in shower?

I do one of these:
1. Just wash head, face, and the 'fury' places with soap & water in sink This is when I'm in a lot of pain.
2, Wash hair, face, 'fury' places ,arms, chest , legs with soap 7 water in sink . Most of the time.
3. take long shower about once every 3-4 days.
BTW, I don't use bar soap. I like the new liquid body washes.

Yes I bathe at least twice daily but often three times. Once in the morning , once half way through the day and then once before going to bed.
I rinse myself off with clean water after the bath sometimes using the shower but generally speaking prefer baths over showers.

Baths are great for adding things to for soaking like Epsom salts, essential oils, sugar or salt scrubs etc.
