How do you feel about all those cooking shows on TV & YouTube?

Martha Stewart, among her other talents, is a very gifted instructor in how to cook.
I don't mean to branch off from the poster's original question, but I have to mention how Martha Stewart taught me how to make garlic mashed potatoes! I saw recipes that were so complicated that I never tried them, but one time I saw Martha just throw some cut up garlic in with the boiling potatoes and mashed them all together. Easy and delish! Thanks Martha!

I'm not much of a cook, but my wife is Great. She likes to watch The Food Network, and especially a lady named Ree Drummond...The Pioneer Woman. Quite often she will ask me to print off a recipe from that show, and everything she has made, so far, is Excellent.
If you ever go on a driving vacation, you could take your wife to Bre’s Mercantile Store in Pawhusha, Oklahoma.

Just an F.Y.I. for you, Don, Bre’s favourite TV show is Yellowstone. Learned this from one of her Facebook posts.

Personally can't see what the interest is. But now a coupla weeks ago the wife & I were in the waiting room on one of our many varied medical visits, a cooking show was on (muted). We both were watching the host cook up a stuffed Acorn squash, which we like. On the way home she had me stop at the grocery store for all the ingredients. Done it up. Darn good that evening!

I hope Yellowstone is better than the prelude 1883, or is it a modern version of Dallas? Will try the free episodes on Peacock next.

If I watch any it's only on PBS because there are no commercials. On commercial TV I think they only cook because it's an easy way to fill time.

I'm not interested in the how-to cook shows but I love the competition ones where the contestants have challenges and time limits so it is exciting and interesting to see what they come up with. I haven't seen any where the contestants get yelled at or anything like that, just whichever ones show up free in Amazon Prime Video TV.
There was one whole season that was free to watch last year (for a limited time) and then shortly after it was over the news reported that one of the contestants died of cancer, so maybe that is why that season had been available free (maybe the show's company knew he was dying and it was like a last bit of fame for him).

The only how-to cooking I watch is just sometimes the YouTube "Food Wishes" chef because I like his voice, the way he talks, and his attitude about cooking and the results. I don't watch it to learn tho, because I'm so not a cook.

A younger woman I knew was on one of the Canadian competition shows. She told me some of the behind the scene interactions and the editing done for drama. She was portrayed as the b*tch; maybe a bit of truth there - she was strong willed.

@JustinCase I really liked Yellowstone. It’s all personal opinions.

I loved to watch Julia Child in action. She was one of the first to have a TV show. Graham Kerr was another fun one to watch. A little wine in the food and a lot for Graham's wine glass. I think he was pretty well plastered by the end of the show.
These days I'm a bit tired of them.
I would rather watch how food is grown, made into products and shipped. Mike Rowe had a series on about this as well as a few others. I find it amazing how the machinery can turn out so many products in so little time.
