My job had me traveling the world, so my sleep came whenever I could get some. I might be in Singapore for 3 days and then head to South Africa for a week and the next trip may be me going to Iceland. Yes, I packed a lot of luggage. Mostly 2 big bags that I would check at the outside check-in. I also had to carryon my laptop and a universal bag that had a little of everything in it.
When I would leave the hotel and going to the airport, I would ask the cabbie to handle my bags and hand him a $20 bill. When we got to the airport, the cabbie would check my bags for me and I would pay the fare plus add 20%. The government paid the tab, but it wasn’t that I didn’t care, I always had the impression that some of these service jobs paid very little and the workers depended or thrived on tips.
Hotel maids, I tipped $5 a day if they cleaned my room and put in fresh towels. I made my own bed. If they didn’t put in clean towels, the tip was $3 a day.
