I enjoy the forum too and I skip the politics if I don't like the subject. I too would like to find the bar also especially with the storm coming this way!

I would rate it liberal also and I am pretty conservative. But I find myself thinking more about things when I read others opinions. I am free to skip on by if I choose.

I enjoyed all the posts, thank you. I understand where you all are coming from believe me, I have been there too! Much peace to you all!!:bighug:

Very friendly. I like it here very much. It's one of my favorite chat rooms.

When I was a youngster I was warned to NEVER talk about politics or religion. To this day I think that was bad advice. Politics and religion are two things that can control our feelings and actions. They're responsible for how we relate to others and behave in the world. Although they both talk about peace and understanding the acts of extreme religious and political people too many times are chaos and violence.

I think at this point in my life I would rather not talk about politics.

They say not to discuss sex or politics at the dinner table. That's why I come to SF. Can discuss both... HERE!:) I enjoy politics, knowing well that all will not agree with me... nor I with them. A lady and I who have disagreed... and still disagree... on the political forum have had very cordial and friendly private messages. We can be very passionate about our political leanings... if we remember those with opposing views are just as passionate. We are ALL GOOD PEOPLE!!! We ALL want what's best for the United States. We just have different opinions on what the definition of "best" is and how to get there.
If I were "King", I would make one minor change to the political forum. We have awesome input from those not living in the United States with suggestions, comments, and questions. OTOH, we have some who do not live here who are very negative about our government. I would not support we Americans going on discussion boards to denigrate the government of foreign nations, unless those nations were long-time enemies of the United States. The political forum is, IMHO, good discussion and mild compared to some others I have seen across the 'net.
Matrix, please continue operating SF. We "geezers" enjoy having someplace to go to spend a few minutes a day listening and visiting with others of similar age. If we go to the local Senior Center, we are as old as those who hobble in there. On SF, we can picture these other seniors as active, intelligent, beautiful/handsome, full-of-life, REALLY GREAT people... and want to be just like them!!!!:)

I am 69.5, a member here just by name. I have not participated in this forum because I prefer to interact with younger people, high school kids, their parents, car club members through my free lance photography for the past 12 years or so. The gratitude and the compliments I receive out weigh any possible income I can achieve. I am sure you active seniors are happy campers, who enjoy life everyday to its fullest as I am. I am happiest when I stay away from politics, religions, and gun control. For that, I thank god each and everyday.

I'm new. I haven't found the political forum or any sub-forums yet. The main forum does seem very tame here compared to other forums that have a lot of debating over deep topics. Everyone is nice, almost too nice and polite. There's few deep thinking posts.. for instance, the pros and cons of euthanism in old age.. or debates about retirement communities or being placed in nursing homes by children. Maybe I just haven't found the hot topics section yet.

I don't think you have found the hot topics yet Mary, so don't be dismayed when you do. :) Too nice and polite? Well, keep on posting and see how things go for you dear. :)

Mary, on the forum's main homepage you will see all the different sections here. If you're looking for a topic you can use the search or advanced search feature in the top right corner of the page. You can start your own thread on any topic that interests you like assisted suicide, children putting their parents in nursing homes, etc. :) https://www.seniorforums.com/index.php

At this point in my life I'm interested in politics/religion (especially when they're in bed together) more than I've ever been before.

Quotes from two guys that were very interested in politics...

"Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you."

Pericles

"Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber."

Plato

Well I thought that's what Mary was talking about in her post Ruthanne, of course no harm was intended.

I think it's a friendly bunch of people. I like it, mostly the Word Games, but other threads too.
