How Do You Read the Forums Here?

When I check in, I read by What’s New or New Posts.

Are there any other popular methods? Many years ago on another forum I was sorting through every subsection until I finally found an efficient method.

I always address all of my bell notifications first, then move onto New Posts.

Like Ruth n Jersey, I still occasionally miss replies, which I always feel bad about, because when members take the time to quote entries of mine or respond to posts of mine, I owe it to them to take the time to reply/respond to them accordingly, so apologies to those who I may occasionally overlook or have overlooked in the past.

First thing I do is check all my notifications and PMs ( like checking snail mail ) ... then I click 'What's new' ( like reading the papers) :D... but doing that means I miss something sometimes, and don't get it until the next time it comes around like Ruth said , but I think there's another way to read the forum, I seem to remember some years ago Admin telling us another way, but that might have been with the old forum and not this one we moved to...I can't quite remember

Yup

I cruise thru the bell notes
looking for quotes

And cruise thru what I typed the previous visit to see if I actually made sense (or entered indistinguishable typos)

Then to the What's New

Heh, what confuses me in the What's New is page two
It copies a half page of page one (????)
.....I keep forgetting that

But

It's a wonderful format
I'm on a half dozen sites, daily
and am a member of a dozen or so
This format is by far the best
the very best

  1. Bring up new posts
  2. If there are any notifications look at those first especially ones about being quoted
  3. Once I've gone through the notifications I look at the new posts to see if there are any I want to look at
  4. If I see a new introduction I post a welcome note, refresh the thread and then unwatch it.
  5. I'll generally go through the first page or first two pages of new posts looking for topics I want to read. I rarely go beyond that.
  6. If I'm interested in something that I want to post about I'll do a search of titles to see if it's already been addressed. If not I'll post a new thread about it.

I usually look at the right side f the home page first, to find the most recent posts. Then I will go to Whats new, or new posts. I usually will click on "my posts" to see if there has been more activity on posts I have specifically started, or responded to.

Good Afternoon Aunt Marg, You're looking well today.

No. I hardly read anything in the Forum. I'm dyslexic. Most people think dyslexia is a tendency to spell cat T_A_C. But it's a host of neurologic problems. One being that I read horribly slow. Say a book most could knock off in an afternoon, would take us, dyslexics, well over a week. So I don't read much.
