How Does SeniorForums fit in your life?

I live alone and very old so it is nice to check in and say good morning and good night to friends, have a coffee sometimes in the coffee shop, post some humour, also animals, speshully dogs and anything else I might find interesting in my travels around the net and from email friends.
I try to be supportive in member's situations and happy for them too as they have been with me.
In general ....'get my tuppence worth in'

I can be a little naughty at times so I try to stay away from threads that I know will make me say naughty things.
Not always successful coz my mind is till very much 'with it'
Friends tell me that but maybe they are lying :LOL::p:ROFLMAO:

Then there is my other favourite thing

It seems I can socialize better here than in real life.
Here I have to take the time to sort out what I want to say,, then correct my spelling after I've got it down.

I've been on other forums that have fallen to the way side or petty arguments broke them up.

One of the first ones I joined we all seemed like a silly family & got along well.

Another one I was on we all mean up & special couple of days together .
Went to a dinner theater & cook out at a members home.

We all seemed to leave the forum or didn't chat withe each other.

There are topics here I read often & others I wonder why haven't I checked this one.

SF proves that while we may be older, we are far from dead, and can still confound the younger generation’s stereotypic perspectives on us. I appreciate the forum format as opposed to “chat,” and the mood here is generally tolerant and upbeat, largely free of the mean-spiritedness that can readily be found elsewhere. Topics are often interesting, educational, and lively, free of the “what’s in your refrigerator“ convos that seem to dominate other sites for seniors. I like the intellectual playfulness, and of course, the mud wrestling out back… 🤼

I guess I am asking a basic question that may have been asked before. But, I am new and asking for some basic guidance. I could spend all day on the site. I have both the time and interest, and unfortunately, need as well because I am very lonely. So what I am asking for is some perspective or guidance on the use for membership on the Forum.

Well, if you spend all day on it, replying to whatever interests you, and replying to responses you get, then some members will start to call you obsessed (yes, I've experienced this). It's odd, because it's a "discussion" forum, and replying quickly is the cyber-alternative to a conversation. Still, it bothers some.

I visit the site whenever it occurs to me. I reply to what I'm interested in. You should do the same.

I like this site very much, but a few posts here at SF have concerned me, yet it is not worth my time to respond to them.
I did respond to one today however.

I guess that is because I worked for 25 years on a web site- and the very few members who would deliberately start trouble, over those years ,were a part of the fact that this once large and popular web site, is not nearly as viable as it was, anymore.

Oh No- I just read something here again, that concerned me, but HollyDolly put them in their place!

People come to forums sometimes, just to seek attention for themselves and what better way than to put down our spiritual beliefs, or the things we are interested in, , or they opine on just about anything in the fake news, that really should be corrected, with a link to the facts.

THANK YOU Holly Dolly!

I used to belong to a major horse forum with 40,000 members or so. I had been a member, and moderator for about 12 years when the company that owned it shut it down. I don't think any forum can ever hold my interest or be as friendly as that one was. Quite a few of those people had visited and camped out here on my farm as well. I am still in touch with many of them after 8 years "on our own" so to say. I visit here, but it isn't all that comfortable.

I check in on this site and one other...several times per day.

It's time well wasted! :)

Your comment about time well wasted made me chuckle. It is always a challenge trying to find a balance between time spent on the mundane chores of the day and the equally important self indulgence
