How is to realize that you are transgender?

I just hope everyone is well.

My understanding is that the suicide rate among the transgender community is utterly through the roof. And that is horribly sad.

I do know of one resource for counseling:

PFLAG

Counseling for Gay Community

PFLAG is the United States' first and largest organization uniting parents, families, and allies with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+). PFLAG National is the national organization, which provides support to the PFLAG network of local chapters. PFLAG has over 400 chapters across the United States, with more than 200,000 members and supporters.

They do have some international affiliates…

My suspicion is that the suicide rate has been so high because both society and often their familes give them grief about it. A few years ago some 40% of homeless teens were LGBTQ youths whose families had kicked them out. I dearly hope that as awareness grows that figure is starting to come down.

I am not pro or against this, but I always find it interesting.
I'm not up to watching something this long right now, but i've seen a couple of documentaries on the topic and have known people in both 3D world and online who are transgender.

Netflix had one that was quite good a while back mostly talking to and about people who work in entertainment field. Disclosure, narrated by Laverne Cox.

Jonathan Van Ness of the new Fab 5/Queer Eye did a Netflix series, six 25 or so minute long episodes, called 'Getting Curious' where he tried to learn answers various things he has questions about, finds interesting. In the 3rd episode, 'Can We Say Bye-bye to the Binary?' He talks to people from various ethnicities about identifying as other than binary.

The whole question of identity, how we define ourselves, is a very interesting one to me. People who are marginalized in some way (and there are many ways--color, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation and neurodiversity to name some) often have more of a struggle because they not only have the normal 'Who am I?' issues but also also have to deal with how 'mainstream society' (prefer that to saying 'majority' because those with most power are not always the numerical majority in a society) defines and perceives them.
