Is it morning?

@hollydolly Are you feeling like your malady is going away yet?

It's going to be warmer today than yesterday but still only in the low 60s. No matter. There are gardening things that need to be done today. I'm already dressed and just putting off getting out there until the temp gets to at least 40.

I'm glad I'm not trying to fly into Heathrow today and glad that I don't live anywhere near it. That fire looks fearsome.
I do feel like I'm getting better.. altho' the chest cough is still here , and my head feels like I've got a heavy cold.. but otherwise yes getting better, thank God..

The fire at Heathrow.. has stopped all planes in and out... which is a nightmare for most people who are travelling..it causes so much trouble other than just missing a flight on the day you're due to travel..

Just paid online for my garden waste to be emptied for the next year. Like everything it's gone up again price this year

What's annoying about the whole thing is that we pay in our council tax for waste to be removed... but we're penalised if we have gardens, we have to pay extra to have the garden waste removed, it's a disgrace..

I've been outside, and kids, I wanna tell you that it's downright cold! Cold, I tell you. I have on a long-sleeve t-shirt, a sweatshirt and a jacket and had to come in to get the zip-on hood for my jacket. Brrrr!

Gonna stay in for a few minutes until the market opens to see whether stocks are up or down today.

@hollydolly Is that fire at Heathrow sabotage or for some other reason? Over here they're saying it could be day or even weeks before it's operational again.

Last night I had the weirdest dream

I dreamt that my husband had his guns stolen.. not normal guns but mighty powerful guns...and they had a unique number printed on them...

I told him that people who live close by probably had stolen them and were hidden in their huge rusty metal storage barn.... so we both broke in to the barn when the 3 men were out. and we found the guns, but just as we did we heard the 3 men about to enter the big doors of the barn.. so with all my might, I bashed open the back wall of the big rusty barn.. and we made a run for it with the guns through the undergrowth...

How weird.... I don't know 3 men with a big rusty barn... nor does my husband have powerful guns , stolen or otherwise

Interesting dream.

You know, it might be fun to start a, "What Did You Dream About Last Night?" kind of thread. Sort of an ongoing, open, dream journal.

In the media today....

The shooting may not have started yet, but let me tell you: Britain is already at war with Russia. When I saw the horrific images this morning of black smoke billowing from a critical energy substation linked to Heathrow Airport, I was immediately suspicious.

It may be too early to come to any hard conclusions. But make no mistake: Heathrow is one of our enemies’ juiciest targets.

At least 1,351 flights have been cancelled today and the knock-on effect to the British economy is likely run into the billions - to say nothing of the stress to ordinary passengers and the loss to Britain’s international prestige. Counter-terrorism police are involved in investigating the fire as a 'precautionary measure'.

As an intelligence expert who specialises in Eastern Europe, I know that this fire seems straight out of the Kremlin’s playbook. And considering the precedent for Russian-instigated attacks of this kind across Europe in recent years, I firmly believe security services should treat this as sabotage until proven otherwise.
The fact that a single fire could close Heathrow for at least an entire day suggests to me a well-planned and carefully executed operation. And tellingly, witnesses have reported seeing an ‘explosion’ - something which suggests the involvement of an incendiary device rather than an organic fire resulting, for example, from a loose cable.

Last year, the head of MI5, Ken McCallum, warned that Russia was intent on generating ‘sustained mayhem on British and European streets’. The Kremlin has made good on that promise.

Just look at the arson attack perpetrated against a Ukrainian-owned business in Leyton, east London, last year. Twenty-year-old Dylan Earl from Leicestershire started a blaze that required 60 firefighters to extinguish. He was charged with aggravated arson and assisting a foreign power - in this case Russia - under the National Security Act 2023.

Ever since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in three years ago, it has been increasingly difficult for Moscow’s agents to act on British soil. This is partly because the Russian embassy has a reduced presence but, vitally, because MI5 has significantly ramped up its counter-intelligence operations on Russian assets.
All the clues that Putin is behind the Heathrow fire

The point of your dream @hollydolly is that you two did something important TOGETHER
No I don't think so.... most of it was about theft... ...

I do know the 3 men in my dream.. they are father & 2 adult sons..but I havn't seen those guys in a very long time.. they are my neighbours, but they don't own a barn much less a big rusty one, and as far as I know they're not thieves...

Why is it cold again? Cold and windy! At least peaches and herbs are in their cozy little house.

Time to get moving. I can iron while chatting with a friend in Europe. We met on a forum. She visited us in Texas and wanted to do so in Oklahoma when she developed diabetes. This and other associated issues really did her in.

Mumsy was at her best negative last night. With a phone call she presented us with the fact that she moved to the US to her daughter and now her situation is my fault. For 25 years she visited for several weeks every year and has lived in Georgia for six years and speaks/writes English fluently.

The only mustard is the hot dog yellow kind? There is no dry cat food? There is no flax seed? We keep ordering whatever she wants and I text her pictures of isle and item of Aldi and Walmart. At magic beauty items she finds in magazines I do draw the line after she used a pricey face cream on her heels because "it did not work". Well, at 87 you cannot reverse decades of sun and glacier exposure. Neutrogena comes in little pumps and does no harm. My first world problem. She is back to pulling weeds after she fell once and broke a hip then again and broke several vertebra.

It's cold and windy here too! Had to cut the dog walk short. :/

Beautiful day coming today - high of 79° with a low of 52°. Planning a walk later for the exercise and to soak up nature's vitamin D!

Yesterday was a delightful, easy day with baby grandson (BGS). Popped him in the stroller for an early afternoon walk. He conked almost immediately so we extended the walk from our usual 30 minutes to a full hour. Came home and he continued sleeping in the stroller for another 20 minutes. DH & I (and DS & DDIL) are hoping we can take him once a week going forward for a bond similar to our relationship with TGS, his big brother.

Today's plan includes making pizza dough for Sunday's pizza making with DD's family. The dough tastes better and is easiest to work after a 48-72 hour slow rise. Only making a dozen pizzas this go-round, so no big deal.

After breakfast and catching up here, I'll get back to working on the spreadsheets while the washing machine does its magic on a load of laundry. Roomba is already on the job hunting down errant Cheerios dropped by BGS.

Robots, assorted machines, computers, modern medicine and other recent inventions/discoveries make our lives soooo easy and comfortable. Without them, I wouldn't know any of you! How fortunate we are to not have been born 200 years ago. ❤️

I was in the garden from 9:30 until just now and my poor little pink paws are sore. Lots got done. Impatiens seeds planted. Mexican petunias planted. Various and sundry old and ratty flower pots disposed of. Some weeds pulled. Some leaves raked.

It's only 50F so far, but I sure did get warm in a hurry while working so hard.

I can't join in on a dream thread until I have a dream again. It doesn't happen often.

I dunno, @StarSong There are days when I really wish we could go back to monks in the cellar with quill pens! Oh, and BTW, make an extra pizza for me, please. Pepperoni.
