How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I've spent all afternoon filling out an Insurance claim.. then speaking to repairers recommended by the insurance company and then speaking on the phone to the car rental company.. trying to arrange a new car for me.. they can't tae my car to the repair place in the next town until next week.. but they can deliver the hire car tomorrow..

I'm in utter shock this has happened again.. different road.. but a female driver once again... I said to her what do you think you were doing?.. you were in the wrong lane.. you crossed over the chevrons... , you should have stayed in your lane until the chevrons ended then you could move over into the left ( remember it's the opposite way to America)... she said.. I don't know the rules , because I don't live here.... WTH ?... so what is she saying she only knows how to drive in her own town ?

Thankfully there was 2 builders working right next to where the accident happened and they saw it all.. and have given me witness statements..

I called the police.. but they said there was nothing they could do as long as we'd already exchanged details..

Nope..@Imogene, unfortunately it's true...... you can't believe it can you?.. 40 years driving no accidents.. 2 drivers crash into me in the space of 4 months... 😭😭

Omigosh, @hollydolly—again?? I hope you are OK!

Looking at your second post: Was the driver American, or otherwise not from the UK? I would never try to drive in a different country; I just know I'd revert back to U.S.-based driving and do something like this (i.e., cause a crash).

I keep losing track of this thread! It's nice to read everyone's posts.

I was supposed to meet my friends later for our weekly coffee get-together, but a particularly frustrating manuscript won't let me.

I am anxiously awaiting Halloween photos of my grandchildren (1-year-old boy and girl twins and a 1-month old girl). The twins will be a parrot and a bat, and the baby will be wearing the same pink-and-white clown costume that their mother, my older daughter, wore on her own first Halloween. 🥰

No.. she was British lives in the next county... dumb as ditchwater....

I was very calm talking to her even tho' I felt like screaming .... and when she was whining and complaining about not knowing the rules of the road... I was furious but I said nothing.. then when I asked for her name and address. she said her name was Karen... I couldn't help myself.. and I replied... ''yes it bloody would be ''....

Geezus Unless she is from another country, there is no excuse. I am glad you had witnesses.

There are women in this world who make those of us with common sense in our heads, look bad. I am so sorry you were hit by two of them in four months😡😡

@hollydolly …I am also speechless. I might give up driving if everybody was out to get me...
you know if I was the cause of these accidents I definitley would give up... but this is just beyond belief... 2 accidents where the other driver was in the wrong lane and collided with me...

I was only just getting my confidence back after the last one in July.. and now it's shattered again.

Fortunately I was only driving at about 25 mph because I was coming off a B road around a bend towards the Dual carriageway.. she was going faster over the r/about to my right... she should have stayed in the right hand lane , because the left hand lane is for drivers coming from the direction of the B road.. and no other vehicles.. ..but instead she drove straight across into my lane.. and into me.. I couldn't have avoided her ..

Whoa, @hollydolly. You must want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over your head. Glad you're ok, but such a bummer about your new car and the upcoming hassle to get it fixed.
this is the second problem..I've spent all this time having to be on the phone or emailing filling in forms because again someone else's stupidity......and this as I was on my way to have physio due to the injuries received in the previous crash😖

What a nightmare.. and honestly I'm thinking what am I supposed to do to avoid people like this... there's nothing I can do...I'm a good driver, I was in my correct lane , both times.. what more can I do?

Lost electric power around 10:25am. It was out about an hour and a half. It's stressful for me because I don't know when it will be restored and there's not much to do when there's no electricity - no internet, no TV and no phone. Good thing I wasn't in the middle of cooking an elaborate meal. Also I have to go around and reboot my TV box, WiFi and modem and re-set the electric clocks.

Remember also I had the drawers in the car that were going to the recycle centre...

The police said my car was driveable so I drove to the physio which fortunately was only a mile from the accident... then I called my Daughter.. and she said ''mum don't drive this weekend.. there 's something ominous in the stars... a recent work colleague of hers, has just been involved in an accident exactly like my first one.. and her car was written off , and she's got 5 broken ribs.. and there was a big accident involving tomse trucks near my daughters' company this week...

Somebody said to me there a huge amount of women especially driving when they've been drinking alcohol in the day.. they sit at home drinking.. then go out for shopping or pick the kids up from school, and they're Over the drink drive limit ....

I was surprised the police didn't breath test either one of us

Oh, Dolly!!!! You certainly have the worst luck!!! Just so you aren't hurt, that's what matters. Still, you must be really upset! Hugs!!!!!

Holly this is so hard to wrap my head around!!!! I mean wowow....So glad you are okay, and looks like the car

So the 7th the phone call of the day was the legal arm of my Insurance company..asking me what personal items or injuries I want to claim for...

They said go to your doctor and get them to see what the extent of your injuries are ( my back is killing me )... so I called the surgery , they said no chance of an appt inside 3 weeks... :(

Oh no @hollydolly, not again !!!

In this era, there are way too many people driving under the influence of substances with poor coordination. Driving our SFBA freeways given high speeds is often white knuckle scary.

This Friday morning, it is not raining here as in GB, but it is foggy there is chilly marine overcast that will burn off by mid day.

I see @jujube and I have the same birthday, but she is exactly 2 years older. I just noticed my account "Show day and month of birth" had not been checked, so just did so.

@Medusa 's and @mrstime birthdays are one day later on Halloween, but @!Medusa is 13 years younger than I while @mrstime 9 years older.

This Friday morning, am continuing to code and process images from my recent fall leaf photography work. The first of 2 trips is near complete so am into the second trip. Discovered one of the most important images, a 3 frame stitch blend of 38 focus stack blended shots that I processed quickly a few days ago but did not look at closely, has plenty of minor breeze caused mis-registrations that cause ugly aesthetics at full detail. So will need to tediously re-process it manually over several hours. Another similar single frame image with breeze mis-registrations that I completed yesterday required about 6 hours of work, and this one is worse.

On this 2025 Halloween as noted earlier, I plan to later drive 40 miles north to the same club I visited Monday where ten regional, small name bands, are playing from mid afternoon till midnight with a lot of Halloween craziness. The club draws lots of musicians so ought be packed. So much, I'll be spending more time outside about their patio area. Weather will be a cool 60F down to 57F marine flow with overcast so will dress semi warmly.

I took some photos yesterday, ridiculously wearing the 3 birthday gifts I bought for myself that I'll post on the "bought thread".

All three are sleeping. I hope Rex doesn't fart.

Mom, what's cooking? Because my wife's pantry is overflowing, I keep some "delecacies" in my own walk-in closet.
In case of the exspected 8 point earthquake, we have more canned food supplies in the shed.

My experience with dental insurances.

For almost 50 years, I was covered by Delta Dental PPO: www1.deltadentalins.com (for California.) Since my retirement from work in 2007, my wife’s employer covered dental insurance for both of us for about $1,600 a year as a fringe benefit.

Just one example: a Porcelain/Ceramic Crown for my tooth #24 last December:
The dentist billed Delta $2,366
Delta approved $976 which the dentist accepted, and for which I had a co-pay of $195 (20%.)

Since my wife retired from work last summer, we had to switch to Medicare. It pays for my Kaiser Permanente healthcare; and on its own, kp.org includes a DeltaCare discount dental plan for free: www1.deltadentalins.com/kaiser-ca.

Last year I had a $195 co-pay for a crown, but now my dentist wants a $920 co-payment. Ouch. I may drive 2 hours to Tijuana/Mexico where I have to pay only a fraction of it (unless things have changed.) Their dentists are as good as ours although their offices are certainly not as lavishly decorated as ours.

==============

I communicate with my Kaiser PCP much more by email than by telephone, video, or office visit. For example:

Dear Dr. [skip]

It bothers me that my blood oxygen level is a shaky 95. -- Background:

My wife and I sleep in different rooms because my wife cannot take my snoring.

Well over ten years ago, I had an overnight sleep study at Kaiser. I was told I could benefit from using a cpap machine, but not required.

What Happens When Oxygen Drops Too Low? gives reasons for hypoxemia. The only reason it could affect me is sleep apnea.

Would you recommend that I check for sleep apnea at home with an appropriate machine? It could be the reason for my low blood oxygen.

Thank you,

[yes, I have a dangerous obstructive sleep apnea and am waiting now for a gadget to use at night. It could save my life.]

@WheatenLover says, “I'm currently learning German.” My response, “Wir koennen uns privat auch gern auf deutsch unterhalten.”
i hope he doesn't fart either. LOL
