How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

this is the second problem..I've spent all this time having to be on the phone or emailing filling in forms because again someone else's stupidity......and this as I was on my way to have physio due to the injuries received in the previous crash😖

What a nightmare.. and honestly I'm thinking what am I supposed to do to avoid people like this... there's nothing I can do...I'm a good driver, I was in my correct lane , both times.. what more can I do?
Being a good driver and following the rules of the road & traffic laws sometimes isn't enough in this day & age where there's more & more drivers and more distractions for drivers on the road. The best thing anyone can do to protect themselves from unexpected roadway situations is to take an advanced/defensive driving course.

A key objective with an advanced/defensive driving course is to teach you to be highly aware of other drivers & road users. These courses focus heavily on developing situational awareness and to have a proactive, rather than a reactive, mindset which can help to prevent accidents - even those that are due to no fault of your own.
Not only that but, it's an interesting & fun thing to do!

Any motorcycle rider here knows what I'm talking about as these skills are critical to life & limb when riding a bike. You must be aware of everthing around you at all times while riding a bike because you're totally exposed to serious injury or death. No one cares who's fault it was when you lose a limb or your life because some dumb*ss failed to see you & turned left across your path of travel. That alone is one of the most common causes of motorcycle accidents.

@hollydolly , 4-5 years back my Saturn got backed into in the doctor’s parking lot by one of his receptionists.

She had a big Ford Expedition WITH A BACKUP CAMERA. If she would have stayed off her cell phone (yes, she was calling her kids at school) and watched the camera, maybe it would not have cost her insurance company a few thousand dollars to fix my car😡

Point Being, in the words of U.S. comedian Ron White —— “ya can’t fix stupid “.

I’m just happy to know that you are OK and not injured further from this accident.

It's racing towards 8.30pm.. it's been very busy with trick-a-treaters all evening.. the first started in daylight at 4pm...

It's now torrential rain..torrential, so with any luck they're all tucked up at home again for another year.

I'm just about to have my dinner.... but noticeably my hips and lower back are really hurting.. might be results of the collision...

I think she has one. She's still here. 😉
You know I was just thinking the same thing.. either my mum or my granny was there to help I'm thinking....

With the first accident where the car was hit so hard on the passenger side it overturned 3 times... and then people ran to my aid.... and this one today where I was hit on my drivers side.. but almost as tho' whatever malevolent spirit was causing the crash, it's like my guardian angel bumped their elbow so it didn't hit me directly in the drivers seat, and instead got the front drivers' panel

I took my laptop to Ed's today and showed him a couple videos of "Riverdance" routines. We both enjoyed it.

One time, we were watching a clip of Mikhail Baryshnikov... it was Ed's first time seeing MB...Misha performed one of his renown triple-turn-whatevers while leaping higher than seems humanly possible.

Ed was impressed but merely commented dryly, "That's not the first time he's done that."

I don't know who is more destructive: my 6 y/o grandson or my 13 m/o puppy ......... But for sure, my grandson loves dogs.

My grandson last night at early trick'n treating ... Today and overnight at Disneyland & Hotel, while I dog-sit his Beagle pup on the right.

My older daughter and some friends are on their way to camping at Death Valley (parts are below sea level, and in summer 137F, 57C?) It's
a 5 hour drive, 2/3rds on a freeway. They will be staying near the Race Track where stones are moving around, probably pushed by winds.

Good luck with your appt @VaughanJB

Thank you, Holly. Appointment was fine, drops, lights in the eye, and more drops. I've been put on the waiting list, they said I can expect the surgery in (or around) March 2026. Which is fine really, I'll just be glad to be able to see from the right eye. Or see better, I should say.

It was at Orsett Hospital, which I had to get a cab too (for obvious reasons). There are back was £50. I think they do the surgery at Southend. They should pay me to visit Southend. :D

@VaughanJB Cataract surgery was the smartest thing I've done in years! No more glasses. Love it.

I wear glasses now. I tried contact lenses, and loved them. I had zero issues with wearing them. HOWEVER, I absolutely hated how I looked without glasses. I don't know, my face is calling out for glasses. So I went back to glasses and have worn them ever since.

The giant sequoia grove in that state park is the largest in the north part of the Sierra Nevada and was where the first American Gold Rush settler from the Angels Camp community, noticed in 1854 while chasing a wounded grizzly bear, that there were giant trees. That quickly became a national news item. Later, larger groves were discovered far to the south.

It is one of the oldest state parks and has considerable visitor facilities. That easy 1.1 mile long North Grove loop trail has several wooden boardwalk sections through areas that fill with ground water after storms. Each mid to late October for about a brief couple weeks, the understory Pacific dogwood, cornus nuttallii, tree leaves become very colorful as well as much other vegetation leaves as those on big oak maples, black oaks, and thimbleberry. Walking through such forests during diffuse light cloud overcast conditions is utterly magical with the leaves glowing like neon.

As an old landscape and nature photographer, I can advise any visiting SF members capable of at least minor hiking, of where, when, how to visit such natural areas if they say visit San Francisco during that period. For years on other web boards, I've advised nature seekers, photographers, and backpackers. Likewise, for some uncommon after wet winters, spring wildflower events like blooms in our Southwest deserts. Note there are a few regional bus tours that include visits to that park, Gold Rush tourist sites, and Yosemite Valley.

This old non-profit organization for the park has considerable visitor information.

Your posts and pictures are breathtaking. Thank you.

I think my eye bags cry for glasses as well. I may need to get thicker frames!

I've spent all afternoon filling out an Insurance claim.. then speaking to repairers recommended by the insurance company and then speaking on the phone to the car rental company.. trying to arrange a new car for me.. they can't tae my car to the repair place in the next town until next week.. but they can deliver the hire car tomorrow..

I'm in utter shock this has happened again.. different road.. but a female driver once again... I said to her what do you think you were doing?.. you were in the wrong lane.. you crossed over the chevrons... , you should have stayed in your lane until the chevrons ended then you could move over into the left ( remember it's the opposite way to America)... she said.. I don't know the rules , because I don't live here.... WTH ?... so what is she saying she only knows how to drive in her own town ?

Thankfully there was 2 builders working right next to where the accident happened and they saw it all.. and have given me witness statements..

I called the police.. but they said there was nothing they could do as long as we'd already exchanged details..

Nope..@Imogene, unfortunately it's true...... you can't believe it can you?.. 40 years driving no accidents.. 2 drivers crash into me in the space of 4 months... 😭😭

Wow! I missed that it happened again. So sorry.
