Bought a new mobile phone and it's driving me nuts. The instruction booklet was useless and inaccurate. Even the manual that I downloaded was pretty useless. The phone works, but nothing is easy, even little things like changing the ringtone. At least, I only need it to receive 'one time pass codes' from my bank and it's switched off 99% of the time.

Grandson had early finish from work today so came here and had dinner (midday) with me. As it's a bright and sunny day, we're heading off for a walk with the dog now. When we get back, no doubt we'll have a game of Scrabble and Cribbage. Granddaughter will be coming round after school when we'll be playing Ludo and dominoes. All good fun. :)
I used to love playing Cribbage, with my Dad!!! I sure do miss playing....and him! 💕 There's no one that wants to play anymore. 😕

I don't know how to play Dominos, but had an interest in learning. I've never heard of Ludo....I'll have to look it up!

Finally got the W2 from the bakery and started on my tax return. It was all fine and dandy, and I finished the federal return. Then we moved on to the state return. It's asking how much I paid in federal and state taxes last year. What?

First of all, why would they need that info? Second, those returns are buried somewhere in the bowels of this laptop. Grrrr. And third, the Free File is free for federal return; for state they want $36.43. I don't wanna give them $36.43 so I'm just gonna find another way to file state, and file for free.

DSIL is off tomorrow and said he'd take charge. I thanked him profusely.

Because I only worked half the year, I'm getting a boatload of $$ back from the feds. I'll take it. It will fund my flower garden(s) for the entire summer with money left over. The garden(s) and I will be very happy all summer long.

It's gonna be in the 60s here starting tomorrow, and if the lord's willing and the creeks don't rise (as we used to say in Texas), it's going to last for a whole week. Woohoo.

It's so nice to have close family @Pam. Glad you have that.

I miss paying cribbage top.. we used to play in the pub at weekends.. but nowadays the pubs ae a ver different pace than they were just 25 years ago.. Now the're mostly Gastro pubs, meaning restaurants.. and not the place where we'd go and play cards or darts or crib etc...

I also love to pay dominoes, but now I haven't got anyone to play with ...Ludo is a kids game, counter & dice.. ... we played it when we were little kids... looks like this...

It's absolutely torrential ran again now it's past 6pm and pitch dark....*sigh*

Proof that I'm getting old came n the post today. In the uk once we turn 70, we have to renew our Driving licences, and then thereafter we have to renew every 3 years whereas it's 20 years now between renewals..

My 70th birthday is in a couple of months, so they've sent me a reminder that I have to renew..

I too learnt cribbage from my dad and also missed playing with him so I started teaching my grandson a few years ago and he enjoys playing with me, so I'm a happy bunny. :) Bonus is that he is also a very placid and loving person, just as my dad was. A joy to be with.

Edited to add that I live in a very working class town so there are still pubs and working men's clubs where cribbage is played and there is a Monday and Friday League. I'm not tempted by them though. ;)

I mean loads of people like them of course.. just not for me all that greasy food...plus I really don't like anything in breadcrumbs anyway

It would be so much easier to do the sausage and egg separately. But I am a sucker for little packages of food like ravioli or little dumplings from the Korean market.

It's been awhile since I cooked for Doggie Delight so this morning I braised 5 plump boneless, skinless chicken thighs and a container of livers. Roughly pulsed in 3 batches in the processor. She gobbled her portion!

Two more portions in the fridge, one in the freezer and a small portion of just livers to mix with dry food and broth.

I'm sure she appreciated your effort. They seem to thrive on good homemade food.

Wow that sounds like a lot for filing state taxes, the express1040 site that I use advertises state tax for $16.

If by "last year" you mean it is asking for how much you paid in 2024 for the 2023 tax year, that sounds to me like a fraud prevention question to make sure it is really you filing these tax forms.

Things moved along a bit today. I finally got approved by my insurer for a procedure I really need. It will happen next week.

Also was taken to lunch at Chic fil A by someone I did a small art job for in December. I changed the cat on my Christmas card to a dog for her and gave her some copies.

I really don't get out much so this was very welcome.
