Per above, went to a Walmart Neighborhood Market where they had dozens of these Marie Callender 30.3 ounce frozen, No Bake, Coconut Cream Pies on sale in a large freezer box for just $1 that are normally $7.32. Also for just $1, some same size Lemon Meringue Pies and Chocolate Satin Pies. People thought it was a mistake, so I just took one. But at the self checkout it indeed showed $1. Yea! Am letting a section thaw out and if it is as good as expected, will drive the 3 miles each way to buy a few more. :p

In 2012, I was diagnosed with Level II Spondylolisthesis. “It is a spinal condition where one vertebra slips forward over the one below it, often in the lower back, causing pain, stiffness, muscle tightness (especially hamstrings), and sometimes radiating pain, numbness, or weakness down the legs (sciatica) due to nerve compression. “

Thus my analytical use of the words tectonic plates lol. I‘m sure by now I have degenerated more. I have a little bit of extra money, so I am starting back with spinal decompression. That really really helps. It never hurts but I am claustrophobic so I have to fight being strapped down to the equipment for 22 minutes. It helps if I keep my cell phone in hand. I tell the girls don’t forget me or I’ll be calling the front desk.😂😂

When the nurse at the doctors office drew blood for those standard tests old people get, she said “oh my, I can feel the arthritis in your elbow”. I had no idea I had arthritis in my left elbow, so that must mean I don’t have anything left without arthritis in it, including my neck from a 1980’s snowmobile accident.

I was never in the kitchen making recipes or sitting on the front porch knitting. I believed in getting off the porch and playing with the big dogs and now I am paying for it.🤠🤠

Me too... altho' as of yet OA is only in my fingers, knees, and right hip...at age 70...

I have seen spondylitis ..not as much as I used to see it but there used to be once upon a time many older people who were bent almost double with it... and in fact an old friend of a friend, Frank, had it so bad he couldn;t look up at all...and was bent completely at the waist

I'm sure since those day 30 years ago there's more help for it to prevent it getting that far.. but I do hear it's very painful... so ((hugs )) to you for that.. but you're fighter, and you're still hauling that hay bale despite all that pain..... bless ya..

Yes, I have had more than one doctor, physical therapist, and Chiropractor,, tell me to never stop doing what I’m doing at the barn or I will lock myself up, to where I won’t be able to do anything

I can still stand straight up, but I have to pay attention and force myself because it is so much easier to bend over to get away from the pain so I get what you are saying about people that you know

You take care of yourself as well and keep your muscles moving in as fluid as you possibly can.

I think the dexamethasone shot is helping. I know that I have to be very careful taking the indomethacin as it sounds to be more harsh on the stomach, etc. than my Excedrin does. My SIL is an oncology nurse at a branch of the Cleveland clinic in Northeast Ohio, and she is already echoing what the doctor told me about indomethacin.

I only take it as needed, generally when the dewpoint and humidity are out of control. I don’t care what anyone says dewpoint and humidity make a huge difference on the fluid movement of people with arthritis.

Take good care of yourself as well😇😇

I do, everyone here whose been here a long time will tell you, I;'m always on the move.....

However I;m currently looking out for somewhere to live that's all on one floor because the knees are very painful going up, and particularly downstairs.. altho' in saying that , I can still run on my better days, .. and I;m not crippled by the OA ...yet... and I hope never to be.. but I really need somwhere with no stairs ...because the knees do hurt like Billy-o using stairs.

i am on the waiting list for a new Right knee cap..just the kneecap not the whole knee

Also, I totally 100 % agree there is no question... that humidity and dew point affect the level of pain in arthritis....
 
Yesterday, I set up my mini laundry machines and did 2 mini washer loads, the equivalent of a single load in industrial machine. Last night I pushed the machines to the back of the tub so we have room to shower. Thankfully my son said they don't get in his way. Today I did another load and left the machines up again so I can do more tomorrow. How is it I've been retired going on 28 years and still have not been able to catch up with my laundry?!

I had to pull things out of the storage closet and take items off the spinner, which stays in the bedroom, to get to them. So I figured I may as well make good use of them while they are out. I did it this way because of our weather the last few days...snow, then sleet and rain. This morning real feel was only 8 degrees and it was very windy. 🥶 The walkway and steps down to the laundry room get salted and shoveled, but the time before last when it snowed a little, a patch of ice was right in front of the laundry room steps, which luckily I saw.

Well I started this day waking at 330am, dang it all...
gonna be a looooong last day of the year for sure...
Got my barberess coming about 330 today to take
the hair all off for the new year LOL...need to have
some groceries delivered today too....got the bills
paid yesterday and a bit of wash finished up...Still
achy all over, and that will last till spring I'm sure...

This morning, friend, Mary picking me up at 10,our last 'road trip of 2025' going to Kohl's,looking for new bathrobe/nightgown. I'll be giving her a week's worth of reading last wk's NYT, Sun local paper,this week's NYT Mon&Tues
The rest of my day watching various college football games, reading today's NYT, my book.My dinner will be delivered around 4, I didn't; want to eat in dining room,hrs were 11:30-3
Everybody have a safe New Yr's eve
 
Afternoon Peeps of SF...on this glorious sunny but cold New years Eve 🌞

It's 2pm I've just got home... I've been over at the farm and the Village church graveyard visiting my friends grave with her sister...... I always go at this time of the year

There was a lot of people walking in the fields and enjoying the sun with their children and dogs..


I drove to Aldi and picked up some bread and milk... and while there got a space heater for £6.00 in the sale ... I've had these type before from electrical stores and they're very good quality so for £6.00 I bought it to store away for the future..

anyway the reason I went today , is not only because it's a beautiful winters day ... but we're forecast for heavy snow as from tomorrow night...

It's 2.30pm now... and it's still very sunny... however my south west facing garden which normally gets all the sun, is still iced up......I had to scrape the ice off the car this morning before I went out...

MQ, do you eat most of your meals in a common dining room or in your own quarters? I ask because you often mention making reservations for the dining room and I've wondered if it's by reservation only?
 
Good morning, everyone. It is cold here with a low of 32 and now 40. That is cold here from what one would expect in Florida. We were surprised when moving here that the temperature would be freezing or below sometimes in winter.

Going out this morning to get my husband's glasses and some other places before tonight. We will not be up to see the New Year come in but hope not a lot of fireworks outside. They ban them for the 4th of July in our neighborhood but not for New Year's Eve, I guess, as some do set them off.

Have a nice New Year's Eve, everyone and stay safe. :)

I figured he is huge, because it looks like he’s taller than his hut.

The other pigs were pretty busy weren’t they🫣🫣😂😂

It was cold when I got up in this morning. The feels like was around 19°F. My area is supposed to warm up to 47° F with full sunshine. It’s a good day for the horses.

The states several hours north and northeast aren’t as fortunate. I think it’s going to be snowing on New Year’s Eve in New York City; better them than me lol. My brother lives right on the cusp of the lake affect snow belt, so he can get more than he wants or nothing. It just depends which way the wind blows, literally.

Him and my SIL are going out to dinner tonight and then be home to see the new year in, with Jammie’s on. I will be watching the new year, if I’m awake, from the comfort of my bed, the electric blanket, and both dogs on top of me because they like that blanket. They weigh 75 pounds to 80 pounds a piece. They’re actually comfortable across my legs so I don’t make them move. They would be looking for the cell phone to call the dog abuse hotline if I tried to make them get off this blanket.🙄🙄

Taking the dog for a walk is . 3, 4 steps away from door & he's ready to get back in.

Take him out the door under the rear porch.
At least there he will do more than paint the snow yellow.

Haven't got my bobbin together properly,,,yet.
It's bit & pieces seem to wander off.
Found bobbin stuck to flashlight magnetic.

News from son working on cars in Texas,,.
Have 5000 cars to get finished / Electronics working by Jan 2 !

I can imagine the stress he is under.

yes and no... the footpaths go around the farm..it;s not really a farm as such it;s more of a small holding...

In the UK unlike the US the rights of walkers are recognised and where possible , we are allowed to walk through private land... the animals of course are fenced off with barbed wire , and there's electric fencing.... but we're a nation of ramblers, so we can pretty much go where we want to.. unless it's high security like the Palace or MI5...or something....

We can actually go into a field of cows if we want... and many peple do. The mistake many people make is ignoring signs to not let their dogs off the lead while in the fields.. and many people have been killed when the cows are spooked by the cattle and stampede..usually elderly women...
 
I think today since it's so cold out and people have events to get ready for and
me hating to drive with all the drinkers on the road this New Year's eve I will
actually take my guitar down, dust it off and see if I can tune it at least.

I really hope it comes back to me when she nestles in my arms, that would be nice!
If I don't show up later I was successful and humming along or I am sitting with
broken strings around my hands and can't type.
 
It's supposed to be sunset at 4pm... but it's still broad daylight at the moment, and with a pink tinge to the sky....

DD took Little pup Lenny who was 6 months old yesterday to the beach for the first time. She didn't take pixie because she doesn't want lenny to learn old habits of Pixie's while at the beach for the first time , so she took him on his own. She said he absolutely loved it....

Today is the day I am determined to get my second laptop working. Explanation: I own two laptops, one is much newer and works a lot better than the other. That's the one I'm typing on right now.

The other one is over 10 years old. I kept it for one purpose: it sits on the kitchen table and I use it to get my newspaper online. I got tired of dealing with print newspapers. I like to read the paper when I'm eating.

The trouble is, that computer only connects to the newspaper about half the time. The other half, I get a message saying something like: Sorry, couldn't make the network connection. I can connect 100% of the time using the good computer, but I don't feel like eating my meals in the study, and also don't feel like hauling the good laptop back and forth 3 times a day. My phone is too small to be practical for this purpose.

I do have a TV in the dining room, but the TV news shows are mostly commercials.

I think my problem has something to do with the old computer being on Windows 10. I have to change it to Windows 11, which of course I don't know how to do. It seems we all have to be electronics engineers these days. (Maybe it's time to borrow one of my grandkids?) 😬

As problems go, this isn't exactly major, but it's annoying. Maybe I should just prop a book up while I'm eating? Or listen to NPR news on Alexa?
Maybe it's times to say farewell to the NY Times, but I've been reading it all my life. Plus, I don't like paying monthly for something that doesn't work.

Anyway, happy new year, and let's hope that the news that does come through is better than what we've been getting this past year!

I have no problem reading online newspapers (NY Times, LA Times and others) on a Windows 10 computer and a W-10 tablet.
