What do you think folks... do you think 9pm on a pitch dark winter night is too late to get a delvery from Amazon.?

I ordered something 3 days ago...and given that I pay for Prime and genrally my ordes arrive the next day , this order has taken a long time to arrive.. and now they're saying it won't get here until 9pm tonight. It's 7.30pm now, pitch dark, freezing cold... and I'm annoyed that I'm going to have it open up the house at 9pm or later for this one parcel...

It means I can't lock the house up and get into my night clothes which I usually do around 7pm...inn winter .. and also dangerous I think to open the door when on my own in the dark....

Amazon delivers up to 10 PM. You should be able to view tracking progress on the site to verify approximate arrival (which stop you are on the route) so there shouldn't be enough risk to be a worry just opening the door long enough to retrieve your package.

@hollydolly I have had that happen on my Amazon deliveries, too. I call the phone number to Amazon and tell them to cancel the delivery until the next day. That works but if it is out for delivery, they try to contact the driver. So far, I haven't had to wait up that late but a few times some have come at 8:00, which I do not like.

I know they deliver up till 10pm..but not here and definitely not in winter when it's pitch dark..... of course I can track them..I've been a Prime member of Amazon for many years.. I just feel that paying for prime and getting a delivery that's taken 3 days to get here.. and then fidning it's not getting here until very late , and in the dark, and expecting people, particularly lone women who live alone to open doors in the dark ..is just too much

I wish I'd done that Rae.. I should have thought of cancelling it. I was going to call amazon and complain, but it's too late now... but I may still call them tomorrow.... because it's really quite unacceptable IMO...

I understand, but if it's already in the works, and you don't want further delays, it may be best to go with it just this once. It's my understanding that in the future, a stipulation can be made "no night deliveries."

exactly and that's what I'll make clear to them tomorrow when I call.

I don't mind if it's summer and it's daylight... but not late at night in the dark....
