What do you think folks... do you think 9pm on a pitch dark winter night is too late to get a delvery from Amazon.?

I ordered something 3 days ago...and given that I pay for Prime and genrally my ordes arrive the next day , this order has taken a long time to arrive.. and now they're saying it won't get here until 9pm tonight. It's 7.30pm now, pitch dark, freezing cold... and I'm annoyed that I'm going to have it open up the house at 9pm or later for this one parcel...

It means I can't lock the house up and get into my night clothes which I usually do around 7pm...inn winter .. and also dangerous I think to open the door when on my own in the dark....

Amazon delivers up to 10 PM. You should be able to view tracking progress on the site to verify approximate arrival (which stop you are on the route) so there shouldn't be enough risk to be a worry just opening the door long enough to retrieve your package.

@hollydolly I have had that happen on my Amazon deliveries, too. I call the phone number to Amazon and tell them to cancel the delivery until the next day. That works but if it is out for delivery, they try to contact the driver. So far, I haven't had to wait up that late but a few times some have come at 8:00, which I do not like.

I know they deliver up till 10pm..but not here and definitely not in winter when it's pitch dark..... of course I can track them..I've been a Prime member of Amazon for many years.. I just feel that paying for prime and getting a delivery that's taken 3 days to get here.. and then fidning it's not getting here until very late , and in the dark, and expecting people, particularly lone women who live alone to open doors in the dark ..is just too much

I wish I'd done that Rae.. I should have thought of cancelling it. I was going to call amazon and complain, but it's too late now... but I may still call them tomorrow.... because it's really quite unacceptable IMO...

I understand, but if it's already in the works, and you don't want further delays, it may be best to go with it just this once. It's my understanding that in the future, a stipulation can be made "no night deliveries."

exactly and that's what I'll make clear to them tomorrow when I call.

I don't mind if it's summer and it's daylight... but not late at night in the dark....

It's coming up to 12.30pm ...I've been out as far as the kerb to bring the bins in, and that's as far as I'm going today. The wind is sooo icy.... 🥶

Have a good day folks...

Tell me about it. Why is it that central heating systems always wait for a cold snap before going out. We can't tell if it's the boiler or the pump. The engineer is away, but he took the call and will give me a time for Monday. Just to put bells on it, we had a propective buyer today, they seemed interested and were here for over fifty minutes. Fingers crossed we might have a buyer.

Did you get your package last night from Amazon?

Yesterday, I got the battery out of the 4-wheeler behind the tractor. It is on zero. It will take a charge, but that is pointless, because it won’t hold a charge, so it’s in the trunk of my car.

Today I hope to get the flat tire off the other 4-wheeler. It won’t stay aired up. It either lost the bead, or has a puncture. If I can get the lug nuts off, it will also go in the trunk of my car and let the tire shop figure out what’s wrong with it.

Maintaining vehicles is a never-ending challenge.

@hollydolly and @Rae, are your packages delivered directly from Amazon (i.e., through an Amazon delivery service)? Nearly all of my Amazon orders are delivered—or, should I say, lost—by the postal service (USPS over here, of course). I've lost count, and I've complained repeatedly to Amazon in the unrealistic hope they will say something to the USPS.

A few weeks ago a large box was marked by the USPS as "Delivered to residence's mailbox" even though it was much to large to fit into ANY mailbox. Amazon shipped a replacement, but I'd finally had it with the USPS and lodged a complaint. I got a reply saying the package had probably been put into the incorrect mailbox and the person had simply kept it. I was like, "Did you even READ what I wrote?"

And now four other items are running late as well, and it's not due to the weather. I'm so frustrated. UPS is much more reliable.

Anyway, back on topic: Today was good. I went to my AA meeting and then out to lunch with two members after the meeting. They asked what had happened the night of the blowup with my son, the details of which I have shared with only a few people because it's so very (1) distressing and (2) embarrassing. They were very kind.

I think the emotion of the meeting and the lunch is getting to me, though, because I am exhausted. I lay down for a nap, but I'm still very wrung out. I might just head to bed very early (it's only 4:30 pm as I type this) with a book. I have four articles due first thing Monday morning, though, so there's not a lot of time to spare.

I hope everyone has had a good day. It's still overcast and foggy here.
