Remember - you have two feet! Sit down!

Bright sunshine and cold! Bird baths are frozen solid. SO went outside and refilled all feeders before he left for his playdate.

Izzi was sick last night and has not eaten. At least she has settled down for a nap. It is so hard to see them like that and not be able to tell what ails them.

Quick run through the house then Sunday time as in calling friends and not doing much.

My new 128gb flash drive arrived...look at how small it is...

This compared to a pen...

and compared to a current 64GB flash drive....

Received what looks like 8 to 10 inches. Hand shoveled the driveway - AGAIN. Not bad for a 72 year old woman. Fortunately it's light and fluffy. The pile at the end of the driveway is finally as tall at the mailbox. I expect an Inuit family to move in soon with that igloo I built for them.
What looked like a crow perched in a nearby tree and was there for quite some time.

We call that MIL is keeping an eye on things.

There is a part of me that wants a real job. My BFF still works in a busy field (fund raising) and she is 76. Also, she recently became President of a local group dedicated to this. She actually goes out and has lunch with people for business & fun.

But, I don't really believe I have what it takes anymore to hold down a job. I just like to imagine. Admire people who still have the energy & desire to work. I could sure use more money.

In empty laundry room washing blankets. Yay for me!
Thanks for the reminder - I'll start a load of laundry in a few minutes.

Had a great day with TGS yesterday. At two years old last year, he was somewhat speech delayed - barely saying Mama. Now he's a regular chatterbox, talking in full sentences. I was pretty sure it would unfold this way; his daddy's pattern was very similar. ❤️

I have not done a thing , lol .

I posted earlier ,watered garden plants , weeded in few minutes doing water changes in some fish tanks and waiting for Football so yes it will be a not much done day .

Going reckless today and drinking coffee again at 8 pm as want to watch Joker: Folie à Deux at 11 pm .

Summer time in upstate NY is beautiful but Winters not so much .

Way back in the way back when I worked at a "real" job five days a week, there were many days when I wished I didn't have to work. Now? I want a job. Any job. Somewhere to go and something to do.

Retirement isn't for me.

Wait. Lemme amend that. I want a job where I'm shown/told what to do and left alone to do it.

@Georgiagranny and @Pepper: DH & I have the perfect semi-retirement setup. Just enough work, but not too much. Extra money every month, nobody looking over our shoulders, and enjoyable work.

When asked when we're going to fully retire, I shrug and say, "We'll know when the time is right. But it's not today, nor is it likely to be anytime soon."

It would be wonderful if all seniors were able to similarly tailor work and retirement so that it suited them.

How many grandkids do you have in total, @StarSong?
Two older ones from DD, who got an earlier start. One on the edge of 13, the other very recently turned 10.
Two little ones from DS, who married later. TGS who just turned 3, and baby GS who will be a year old March 1st (he was born last Feb 29).

The 10 year old is the only girl.

Unless things change dramatically and fairly soon, my other DS and DDIL are not planning to have children. My sons turn 40 this year, daughter will be 42.

I was a licensed plumber in Albany , I am now retired in Florida but still do light plumbing work here like leaks , new faucets just not heavy things like installing hot water boilers .

I am not a licensed plumber in Florida so charge handyman prices even less , this week Tue to Fri I have 4 afternoon jobs .

A friend who retired from a big pharmaceutical company wants to start a food truck because he is a great cook and going insane since retirement , he invited me on board with another retiree ' Three Grumpy Old Men ' would be my idea for this venture and in reality it seems like long hours and I can not see it panning out but he has your personality of " Get Out There " .

Changed the oil and filter in my car this morning. Had a miniture version of the Exxon-Valdez oil spill in my carport that I had to clean up. :(

But it's done. The reason I did it myself is that I wanted to use 5W-30 for high mileage cars. The dealership won't let you pick your oil. Plus when the dealership does the change I have to use a 24 inch breaker bar to loosen the drain plug. :(

But I thought I'd save a few bucks by getting the 5 quart container of oil and then pour the oil from that into empty one quart containers so I would know how much I was puting into the car. Big mistake. Spilled a lot trying that. Leaving me with a big clean up job. Next time I'll spend a little more and buy the single quart containers.

I had a Honda dealer put a lug nut on so tight the wheel stud sheered off when I tried to change a flat. People working on my cars using impact wrenches without checking torque pisses me off; and I've gotten to the point I ask them not to do use them. Worse would be a drain plug being that tight and or sheering off.....geez.

Oil. I used to change my own oil years ago; my dad was a mechanic and made sure I could do the maintenance on my cars from the time I got a license. Anyway, my little Korean neighbor lady across the street never owned a car until 4 years ago, she had lived in NYC and used public trans until she moved here to Tucson.

So I am getting ready to go somewhere with her one day and she starts her car...and I could tell by how it sounded, it was low on oil...at the very least. So I go hunting for her dipstick...finally locate it and no oil even registered on the dip stick.

So I trudge off to find her some oil...and I made the mistake of getting a large container rather than individual cans; was trying to save her a buck. What a mess that was trying to put oil in her engine! I am not as strong at 69 as I was in my 30s plus I had had to climb up under the hood to even begin to pour the oil into the engine. A one qt can would have been smart for me to have bought...

I showed my newlywed second wife several parcels of land for building a house. The only time she became emotional was a lot with a small running creek, "Oh, if we had a pond with some duckies." Some 50 years ago, I paid $2K for the 2 1/2 acre land that is worth now almost $1/2M. For $60 I divided it into four parcels, doing all the paperwork by myself. Nowadays this would cost $60K because only professionals are longer permitted of doing this work, and prices have gone up. No wonder that house prices in the Los Angeles area are now $1M.
I can relate to your story. Completely different region, of course.

In my late 20s, I was paying off an 11-acre parcel, with a cleared area of about half, the rest being slope and couple benches covered with conifers. Price was $17K (Canadian). It's where I lived when I was first learning concrete-foundation work, plumbing, and electrical work. I was getting jobs as a construction assistant and handyman, selling eggs (and also sporadic minor gigs at things like truck-dock stevedore).

The property sold for $60k when I left, enabling me with just a $5K personal loan, I was able to by 8.5 acres with a livable house, plus three usable outbuildings. I constructed several other utility outbuildings of varied sizes, including a carport. Over time, we remodeled and otherwise improved the house.

No officials were watching improvements or construction on the land locally at the time. Now that's changed.
